Might as well start this one a bit early as it's The Big One
We all know about 2001. This one might not be as do-or-die but it's potentially as decisive. The good thing is we have a very good recent record against the Bees - our 1-0 defeat at Underhill in November was our first against them since 2009. There are usually very few goals in matches between the two teams - 7 out of the last 15 matches between the two have ended 1-0 and 3 have ended 1-1, with a 0-0 in 2005. The exceptions were a 3-0 away win for Torquay in February 2011, the 3-2 win on the last day in 2001, a 2-1 home win earlier the same season in 2000, and a 2-1 away win in October 1999. Barnet haven't beaten Torquay by more than 1 goal since November 1998
Overall, though, Barnet actually have more wins - it's 11-9 in their favour with 9 draws. 2 of those 9 wins for Torquay came in the FA Cup, the first being a 6-2 home win in 1963 and the second being a 4-1 away win on New Year's Day 1972. The very first league meeting between the sides was in December 1992 at Underhill and finished 5-4 in Barnet's favour. So ironically the first 3 encounters between the side produced 22 goals
The other thing to note is their recent form. Their defeat at home to Chesterfield on Saturday ended a 4 match unbeaten run, in which they had also kept 4 consecutive clean sheets. But their win at Wimbledon in their previous game was their first away win since mid-February
I've also been on the Barnet forum of late and it's fair to say they're in a similarly pessimistic mood to us, and frustrated with some of Davids' team selections and tactical moves, so we're both in a similar boat

Many thanks James for getting this match thread up nice and early.
It’s Wednesday, three whole days to go before this game is going to be played and it’s been on my mind all the day. Yes I’m going to be at the match, it might well be one of two remaining games I will watch our team play league football for a good number of years. Buts that not the reason why I will be there, I’m only going to give all the support I can in the hope it might just make some difference and as a result we will stay up.
I have to be honest now and say I have found myself questioning myself if I really wanted to be at Plainmoor this Saturday, after all just how am I and all the other fans going to be feeling come 5pm. We are not going to know that until the time comes and we are either going to be happy or as miserable as sin. Why do we want to put ourselves through what might be a painful afternoon, after all I’m sure we could all think of a few more pleasurable pastimes we could be doing instead.
Yes this Saturday is going to be so different from the last one, I was at Homers Heath just hoping to watch a good game of football and while I wanted Buckland to win, the result would have no major effect on me one way or the other. I knew I would want to rush home and take my first look at the pictures I took; photography is a big love of mine. While the journey home was not the best while listening to the report on our game, I still had those pictures to cheer me up I hoped.
Sure I chatted to a few people I know at Homers Heath, but they could never replace seeing all me dear friends up at Plainmoor, so many who I made friends as a result of the TFF coming into existence. Stuartb, a really top man who has become such a special friend, Jon always full of wise words and advice. But then old grumpy Phil will come along, but he will have you in stitches with that dry wit of his. But there are so many others and far too many to mention in this post and come halftime they will walk past me again and briefly give their thoughts on the first half performance.
Yes something to really look forward as being a fan and going to any match is not just about the game itself, it is so much more. But then the ref will blow his whistle and all that is going to matter now is what happens out on the pitch. Is it going to be a game that we will talk about for years to come, or one we will want to forget as soon as possible? One we were so glad we made the effort to go and watch, or one we wished we had stayed at home?
There are other questions we could ask, are we strong enough to witness another home defeat? With other things happening in our lives, can we deal with another crushing blow? On the other hand could we do with such a big boost right now, the sort that only a victory can bring along with the news all the clubs around us lost.
We have lost the last three games and sadly while we were doing this, teams around us have been picking up very valuable points. Is it not time for that to change?, surely it’s our time now to get three points while those around us don’t? I know one thing for sure, that will be the hope of every single TUFC fan, lets keep everything crossed that is what happens.
The thing is we could lose the match and be no worse off, all the teams around us can just as easily lose and we could end up come 5pm still not in the drop zone with two games left to play. All the hope would still be there and that is something we must never lose until there is nothing left to hope for.
This game might be the biggest emotional roller coaster of a game you have ever been too, it might have so many twists and turns. You might be jumping for joy one second and crying the next. But as long as we are jumping for joy at the end of it, then what the game might have put us through would have been worth it.
It seems such a long time ago we were in this position near the end of the season, we have had it all too easy these last four seasons lol, time now to stand up and be counted, time to show the club how much it means to us.
I’m sure like me you wished you owned a time machine, that way we could fast forward to the end of the season and not have to go through these last three remaining games, would not have to suffer the next three weeks if we lost each game while others picked up points. But we have not got one and our fears can’t go away just yet, but I won’t give up hope that come the end of the Rovers game, we will be on the pitch carrying our heroes around on our shoulders, because they all came good in the end.

Dave Inspiring stuff Dave, and a reminder to everyone that Saturday is an occasion to loyally support our players as best we can from first whistle to last. I don't believe for a moment that there will be a single player who isn't trying his best to win, and hopefully with the full encouragement of the home crowd we can claim the all important points. All the arguments can start up again for the rest of the weekend and next week but it's important we give the players all the backing we can up at Plainmoor on Saturday afternoon. I'm sure you'll issue another rallying cry at the end of the week    |

So lets have your starting eleven for this match and the formation you would have them playing. How would you send them out? IE keep it tight and try and nick a goal on the break? Or just go on attack from the kick-off.

We HAVE to win this one, anything else and I see us going down I'm afraid.
Put them under pressure from the off and get a cushion by half time (so familiar to those of us at Underhill at the turn of the century).
Assuming fitness is no problem

A 90% fit Rice will be in goal. Be sure that Barnet will be testing his ability and fitness early on at every opportunity. Perhaps another own goal on our part by making his injury public knowledge. Will we have a keeper on the bench? The good things that have lifted us in of the last six weeks have gone back home and Knill will have to choose his side from a squad that has under performed both individually and as a team. We don't score enough goals and will more than likely huff and puff to a one zero defeat as we have done all season. Another miserable rainy day is forecast and no doubt Aussie will be watering the pitch at half time  The dark clouds over Plainmoor just don't want to go away I just hope we all have something to smile about as we walk out of the ground at 5pm but in all honesty I am not at all optimistic. |

as regards to the attendance tomorrow,it may well be a bigger than i stated before as the 2 for 1 offer still applies. As to the goalkeeping crisis,lets hope ricey doesnt get hit in the love spuds or something similiar,because if so,it will be adios amigos
