Good grief. Portsmouth in our division. Whatever next?
The name of Colin Williams, "the apprentice" (was he the only one at the time?), escapes me completely. But we've previously encountered him playing in a FA Youth Cup tie at Bournemouth. He may have had a spell at Gloucester City after leaving Plainmoor. Then what, I wonder? Come what may I suspect he was forever "ex-Torquay United" in match reports.
Paul Reaney and Mick Bates playing for Bradford. A couple of "Revie era" names for you there no less.
But a more interesting name is arguably Cyril "Ces" Podd, then one of the relatively few black players playing in the Football League. Over five hundred games for Bradford City and one of their great heroes.
