I was hoping to get down to Plainmoor tonight but not to be...
However, we've just taken the lead (55) with a Yeoman goal scored from close range courtesy of a Thompson cross!

And 3-0 it remains at full time.
Quite a decent side as shown below and look forward to the comments of anyone there tonight.
United [4-5-1]: 13 Martin Rice; 24 Daniel Leadbitter, 5 Jake Hutchings, 6 Aaron Downes [capt], 2 Robert Nardiello; 22 Niall Thompson, 10 Damon Lathrope, 11 Ian Morris, 15 Nathan Craig, 14 Lloyd Macklin; 23 Ashley Yeoman. Substitutes [not used]: 1 Conor Thompson [GK], 3 Scott Beattie, 8 Daniel Sullivan, 19 Alex Avraamides, 25 James Washburn.
I would say that it looks likely that MacDonald will keep his place for Friday as Downes started tonight and possibly a 4-4-2 formation as Craig also played the majority of the match. Good work out I think without affecting the starting XI for the important stuff.

And we're in a cup final. Some silverware would be very good Final to be held at Plainmoor against Exeter or Plymouth - should get a decent crowd - particularly if we are safe by then and can put the first team out.

This was a very good workout for our fringe players. First half was pretty even, but we really stepped up and played well in the second half to win comfortably.
Danny Stevens picked up a knock in training, so was not included.
We lined up in a 4-2-3-1 with Craig in a free role in front of Lathrope and Morris and behind Yeoman. Thompson started on the right and Macklin on the left but they regularly swapped wings. Leadbitter RB, Nardiello LB, Hutchings and Downes in the middle, Ricey in goal. Sullivan came on as a straight swap for Craig with about 15 minutes to go.
Yeoman impressed me - as he usually does. His second goal was brilliantly taken.
Taylor and Herrera in the dugout but Knill stood by the dugout and was shouting clear instructions to the players in the second half.Chris Brass was in the stand. Most of the first team were there to support the team.
The team selection suggests MacDonald will keep his place on Friday and that Craig will not be the "third man" in centre midfield. Perm three from Jarvis, Benyon, Chappell and Bodin (and a new loanee??).

Not being funny or anything but it's hard to judge someones ability or performance when playing along side Downsey, the lad did a solid job and obviously has some quality about him. There is a baller in their and I feel he will do well.

How did the young lad Hutchings play alongside Downsey ?? Funnily enough, there was a point when young Jake was confidently bringing the ball out from the back and looking up for his options when I was just about to mention to young Chelston how comfortable he looked on the ball - only for Jake to shank the ball straight to a Bideford player. That aside, I thought he had a decent game - but my man of the match was Ashley Yeoman. In the panic that a relegation fight brings, I do hope that our club has the nerve to continue to believe it can develop young players.

That's exactly what I hear is that he is very comfortable on the ball, very much in the mold of Alan Hansen. I understand the pitch was very bobbly last night so this maybe why he shanked it. But what a great experience for the young lad to play alongside Downsey !!
