I can’t believe just how bad our roads are getting, while I know the weather has played a big part in their deterioration, not being repaired properly in the first place, is also a major factor. I drive about 1400 miles a week and it does not matter where you live these days, all roads are full of potholes or very poor surfaces.
Its not as if we do not have to pay enough to use the roads, what with car tax and petrol duty using our roads has become a costly affair and when you do use them, you risk damaging your car. While potholes get repaired the fact the repairs are no longer sealed just makes the repair a waste of time. They stopped sealing the repairs as it was claimed it made the surface a skid risk, but all that happens is water gets down the cracks and very soon you have a pothole there again.
We have had a very big pothole in our street for weeks, they came and repaired it yesterday but that repair is not going to last very long. What was a joke was the fact a new pothole had appeared only ten feet away, but they did not repair that one as it was not on their list to do. So for now we can drive over the repaired one, then have to try and not drive over the new one, but due to parked cars that’s almost impossible.
Its those no motorbikes and cycles I feel sorry for, they so often can’t avoid hitting the potholes and they are the ones in most danger of getting seriously hurt.. How bad are the roads where you live?
