Colin Walker became the latest BSP manager to lose his job this afternoon when the board of York City informed him they had unanimously decided to terminate his employment as manager after just twelve months at the helm.
Knowing what a dedicated and thorough coach and manager he is, and observing the gates and the league position of the club; I find myself asking what that board expect of a manager if they keep changing every year?
I know York are nearer the bottom than the top at present but they are only three points different from being exactly half way between relegation and play off candidates and we are barely half way through the season.
That's hardly showing faith with their own judgement of a year ago and I wonder if they are self examining to the extent that they appear to have been rejecting the performance of their management team...................I doubt it.
We should be grateful OUR board showed a lot more commitment, decency and common sense when the knives came out for OUR management such a short while ago otherwise I doubt we would be celebrating that record breaking run rather the beginning of tearing up the old blueprint and watching a succession of squad departures and loanee arrivals as has happened at Wrexham- another club who lost patience with a much respected and proven manager.
Do York's board have another agenda? Do they already have Walker's successor lined up and ready to step in? Is that man their former boss Dennis Smith?
Time will tell, and perhaps Dave would like to expand on his thoughts of one of the manager's who "played football the way it is meant to be played" and where that philosophy has got him today?
