Lee Hodges has signed. As he plays the left side of midfield or at left full back sounds like he adds something to the squad. I assume he remains reasonably fit as he made a good number of appearances in the championship last season.

I think this is another great signing. Another sign that the board and the management team are very pro active and we are certainly pushing for promotion. The timing may suggest we were waiting for the wage cap ruling to be amended. What's the betting the next signing will be a keeper? Wouldn't it be just great if it was Michael Poke.

I think you've hit the nail firmly on the head there Cav. A naturally left sided addition to the squad adds the necessary balance and covers Nicho's position should he get injured or called away in November on England duty. But could it be the final nail in Kevin Hill's chances of still being around? Hodges always impressed me either with Barnet or Argyle in the games he played against us and is physically imposing enough to quickly establish himself at our level as long as he still retains adequate pace. Talking of pace, when I was vehemently opposed to the signing of a certain keeper a season or three ago, I asked someone what could possibly be seen by the manager in such an accident prone player.................they replied "pace - overcomes a lack of technique every time" -well I would contend that on the whole it is the other way round! I'd say Hodges obvious physique and technique will stand him in good stead for us

Don't think I have seen Hodges play too many times but seems a solid enough signing for us. The main difference from the squad of last year seems to be that we will not have so many "fringe" players who could not do the job when called upon. I think most supporters could more or less pick Buckles "first team" last year with a few additional stragglers brought into the team when required. However this time around I think it would be pretty nuch impossible to chose which eleven players Buckle would start with. Of course a player like Nicholson recieved some criticism towards the back end of the season but is it any wonder? he played 50 or more games so iis it any wonder tiredness set in. If the manager has learnt that the team needs some form of rotation from time to time it san surely only be a good thing.

I agree Jack.
Last year you could almost predict the side that we would put out for each game. It would appear that with the current signings made Bucks is thinking of mixing up our style of play from last year. You would also think that rotation of players at key points is a must. Alot of the players looked knackered at the end of last year.
