So, with the Chesterfield cancellation, this is a straight re-match but with a two week gap due to yet another postponement. Luckily, the Plainmoor pitch doesn't feature so we should have more chance of actually watching some football. This is our shortest journey of the season although ironically, will be featured on Sky and can be seen on the Big Screen at Plainmoor along with a beer and a curry! All five Devon Derbies have ended in a draw so far this season so the winner of this match, if there is one, will at least top the Devon league! ;D Like any Derby, this will be too close to call with the draw perhaps being favourite! The squad should be well rested and with Macklin now training and very close to being available for selection, almost at full strength.

I was half expecting Exeter to beat us by at least three goals to one at home and to be honest I think our lads did well to earn a point from that game. With Exeter’s home record there is every chance we can win this game and talking to a few Exeter fans last Friday, it was clear they felt much the same.
I think most fans might well be happy with a point from this game, we are not scoring many goals and do have a habit of letting in late goals that are changing winning results into draws or even defeats.
A win would sure boost the player’s confidence and give TUFC fans a much needed lift, its all been a bit gloomily lately with poor results and dare I say poor performances. I can’t see anyone coming in to add that little bit of extra quality the team needs, so it might well have to come down to the players we have got, giving all they have got.

Is it possible this game might get called off? I only ask as its blowing a gale here in the Bay and it’s very wet indeed. The club has sent back all the unsold tickets for the game so there are now none on sale at the club but you can now pay on the gate if you do not have a ticket.
Martin Ling sees this as a game that might just kick start our season, with all the Devon derby games ending in draws so far, surly one of these games has to end in a win for one team and I’m sure we would be over the moon if we came away with all three points tonight.
If the game does go ahead I’m sure it won’t be a pretty game to watch due to the bad weather, it might just end up a slog in the mud and if the wind ends up half as bad as it is in the Bay right now, both keepers are going to have trouble with their kicks.
While a point might be OK, with the games we do have coming up, I do fear a defeat might just see our team really struggling to try and prevent dropping to dangerously near the bottom of the table.

Anyone going tonight would be best advised to take a pair of waterproof kacks, coat and shoes. Still, should take away the smell of p*ss.
Wireless beckons for me.

Exeter have played recently at home in similar conditions.
Being stuck in an open terrace isn't appealing at the moment and am going to watch this up at Plainmoor!

I really can't understand why the manager is banging on about attempts to keep the two Exeter games apart.
Back to back matches occurred every season, many on Christmas and then Boxing Day, between the War and the early Sixties, including three pairs of games against Exeter. These matches were usually against "local" opposition, and far from causing any "tactical problems", many of the games which I attended were brilliant entertainment.
It's such a shame that teams no longer just go out and play, unhindered by pre-planning.
Dave, if you read this, can you tell me how to get the font smaller on this revised version of the website ?

I would have thought it might be advantageous to play a team in back to back games. You are very likely to face the same set of players and you would have learned many lessons from playing them the first time. All the things you did wrong in the first game would be so fresh in your mind and what better chance to put right all those mistakes in a game only weeks apart. Play a team at the start of the season then the same team near the end of the season and you might end up facing a team that has many new faces in it and playing a completely different style of football. PS the size of the font came out the same size as all the other posts on the thread. I will look into this and send you a PM when I have an answer.

The good thing about watching on the TV is you get to see when one of our players blatantly dives to win a penalty. But I'll take it

Man that was intense
We didn't play well but a win's a win, especially over that lot. For all his supposed genius, Tisdale cocked up again
