Buckland Athletic play Torquay for the 3rd season on the trot at Homers Heath 7.45 kick off .Wednesday 16th Jan
Buckland have won this trophy for the last 2 years and Torquay will look for revenge as Buckland out played their near neighbours.
Our groundsman reports that 95% of the pitch is perfect but a small area in front of the grandstand is very heavy, and he hopes that any rain stays away.
I will confirm later tomorrow afternoon if the game is in doubt. but heres hoping the game go ahead.
Piggys pantry will be open and also bar will be open £5.00 adults

An excellent, well contested game on a decent pitch (courtesy of Rich's brother) and with a nice mug of coffee in a real mug (courtesy of Rich's mum). The scout says hello to Barty and Amy and her dad say hello to Dave. There is a match report up on the official site now : www.torquayunited.com/news/article/buckland-1-united-3-602835.aspxWe played the 4-2-3-1 formation currently favoured by the first team with two trainees Campbell and May in midfield, Yeoman up top with Sullivan just behind him. Halpin was mostly on the right and Baker on the left although they swapped wings from time to time. Leadbitter, Washburn, MacDonald and Cruise at the back and Ricey in goal. In the second half Beattie replaced Washburn in a straight swap. Nardiello came on wide right with Halpin switching into "the hole" to replace Sullivan. Kirtys McKenzie was excused duty as his partner is about to give birth. Most of the first team were there to support the young team. I did fear our young centre midfield would get out-battled by the more experienced Buckland lads - and Buckland did open the scoring early on. The youngsters reacted well to the setback with May in particular getting stuck in. He equalised with a tidy finish after a great run and cross by Yeoman. Halpin rounded the keeper nonchalantly after a superb through ball from Cruise. Cruise really does have a touch of quality about him - rarely wasting possession. Yeoman, as always, was busy and effective and another good run brought a foul inside the box. Halpin made sure he grabbed the ball and put the penalty away confidently. An entertaining game and, given the experiences of the last two seasons, a pleasant surprise to see a young team able to impose itself on experienced opposition. It was the most positive Devon Bowl experience since the heady days of 2006-07. What odds Damian Davey scoring the winner in the final?

Buckland and Torquay served up an exciting cup tie at Homers Heath with Torquay just deserving their victory last night.
Buckland started the brighter with 2 early chances, on eleven minutes a through ball out of defence set Gaffer lynch free, it looked like he fouled his marker but the referee played on. Lynch squared the ball into Gavin Hammon who in turn passed it to Si Revell who fired low to Martin Rice near post to give the yellows a deserved early lead.
Torquay came more into the game and a good run down the left hand side by the Torquay winger found space , he pulled the ball back to May who fired into the net and give Kenny Griffiths little chance.
Buckland were trying to make it 3 wins against their near neighbours, and to make it a hatrick of wins of the St Lukes bowl.
The second half started with Torquay showing a little more urgency and scored again when Halpin was put through he looked offside but the linesman`s flag stayed down. Halpin finished well 1-2
With Buckland pushing on to try and get back into the game Torquay were awarded a penalty Halpin dispatched with ease, to send them through to the next round.
Buckland wish Torquay all the best in the next round, and who knows with having to play 25 more league games , this may be a blessing that they will have at least one game fewer to play.
Martin Ling was in attendance running his eye over his young lads.
Buckland were pleased with the turn out of about 150 with football on the television and a cold winter night.Buckland are home again on Saturday with Cadbury Heath coming down from Bristol .
