Local Derby full of aggression, passion and such like !!! Well that effort last night was totally devoid of that !!! A poor game in which ECFC were the better side. Surprisingly they push the ball thru the midfiled on the floor whilst we "hoof it" up to Rene !!!
Performances worthy of mention were the two centre backs, Manse who ran around like a man possessed and Rene. Besides that it was average to extremely poor !!!
I don't think Ling has lost the dressing room but seems he has lost the crowd !!! Sod all atomsphere and he does continue to use this stupid 4-5-1 system late on with no support playing off Rene !!! The team seem to have no confidence at all, no guidance and no desire ....
This is becoming more than a joke now and clearly something has to give ............. probably my willing ness to drive the 200 miles to and from home games. We are being served up Tesco's Extra Value burgers rather than sirloin steak alas.
Finally hats off to Tisdale and his dress sense ............................

we escaped with our lives tonight.totally out played second half.more because we did our usual sitting back and enticing them to attack.the second 45 was truly awful. Not enjoying the football or lack of it under ling.Special mention for bodin again.he was dire.he looks unfit and uninterested.a truly awful game from him.under normal circumstances he should be dropped.but his was not the only one to have duffer of a game.Howe was good as usual.poke made one fantastic save.and the dependable downes.the rest forget it.Lets hope we can flop over the line too safety.but again on this evidence its going to be a long boring season with pitifully low crowds attending

Not really with this sitting back theory, Its not done intentionally. The simple fact is the better side will always push the weaker backwards. We simply do not have the technical ability in the side to impose and worry opponents. What we have achieved has been done with hard graft and a resolute defense. If we lose any of those two qualities there's only one way to go. Stood still far to long on the playing front and the cracks are beginning to show. Martin Ling and the policies adopted by the board will just continue to effect attendances he may not have lost the dressing room but he is unfortunately losing fans from the terraces.

Good to see a decent crowd in the ground last night at last. There were certainly some empty seats in the family stand but seemed fairly full in all other areas. Was there really room for another 2.000 people if required? I suppose that will never be an issue when we drop into the conference and beyond according to some of the negative bullshit being posted by some on here.

I have to say that I came away from last nights game a 'tad' on the fed up side after we conceded late for the 6th game (?) on the trot . Not that a draw was not a fair result but its the manner - why can't the opposition score first and we score late for a change!
The obvious differences in the sides was the quality of the bench - ours was made of balsa wood and theirs came from a high quality builders merchant with knobs on. Still if you average 5,000 punters through the gate.....
Our subs didn't change the game and Thompson was disappointing again (IMO) - easy to say I know, but perhaps Yeoman for Jarvis would have been the better option. Gow, when he came on was in a different class (as Jon previously mentioned) - very sporting of Tisdale not to start him.
I thought Steve Tully was at some stages playing centre forward and I will certainly speak to him when I next see him in Sainsburys about that tackle on Danny.
You could visibly see after 60 minutes play that we started to drop deeper and deeper inviting them into our penalty area............

That would be a shame, and rob us all of the chance to see a somewhat vocal supporter being told to shut-up by a ten-year old sprog. Classic, made by night that did!

Although last nights point was well earned I must admit that looking at the next 5 or 6 games I feel a little uneasy!

Don't be too hard on the little nipper. He was only backing up the old dear in the seat behind who had been having a quiet word in your shell-like!
