We do seem to get our fair share of political type threads on the TFF, some like them and some don't. We welcome all debate on the TFF and have decided the best way to try and keep everyone happy is to have a room where those who want to talk politics can without upsetting any other TFF members.
The new room is a sub board in the Popside and has been password protected. You will need to enter the password before you can enter the room and read any posts in there.
To make it easy to remember the password has bee set as tff
I will move the benefits thread into the new room
I will make a banner for this new room later today.

The only draw backs I can see with that is threads often go way off track so it would be easy for Torquay United related and other random stuff being locked away as it happens to be on a politics thread; guests would not be able to access it and there is often a lot on such threads that would be of interest to guests; and I assume it won't show up on the last 75. I think I would be unlikely to go into a password protected section just to see what political threads are there, but if I see one on the last 75 facility then I am often motivated to comment. What goes in there could be problematic as well, as virtually everything has some element of politics in it, even things like appointing a new manager, selecting a main sponsor, or building a new stand or training ground.

I have locked the poll as it does also need to ask if we have such a room should it be password protected or not. Any posts made in such a room that is password protected won't show up in the last 75 posts. Back to the drawing board me thinks I will leave the board open for now to see what others think, the thread can be moved back at anytime and the room closed.

I don't see why it needs a password really

I don't think we need a politics room because certain people will bring politics into anything they post

Down 2-1 to a thirty yard wonder strike! Always keen on strikes, but will have to make an exception in this case On the subject of the thread, I don't think it would work for the reasons already outlined. A thread about benefit payments might be pretty clear-cut, but there have and will be hundreds of other threads where things are less clear. And hasn't a feature of this forum always been that threads go in whichever direction posters take them? Is there going to be bunch of rules to prevent that happening if what's posted is considered 'political'? And who gets to decide what is 'political'? Would Jon and Barton Downs' recent threads in the Other Sport Room and History thread have been moved to the 'political room'? Are Dave and Rob going to decide alone which threads should be moved for this reason and which shouldn't? This forum can be pretty quiet at the best of times. Whether one likes it or not, Wildebeeste's thread has had 100 posts and over 1,600 views. Take that off the TFF or hide it away in some obscure subsection of it and that's a lot of content and activity hidden away. Surely the best idea is for people to simply ignore posts, threads and posters who irritate or don't interest them? Okay, so that's more difficult with the 'last 75 posts' option, but it's not like there are hundred of posts on here every day is there? Not everyone's interested in the prediction league posts, but those of us that aren't don't complain that they clog up the 'last 75 posts'. You can't create a sanitised forum that pleases everyone.

Unless we make our penalty area password protected, I think we'll struggle to keep Exeter out.

Agree with Lambie here (makes me feel kind of weird though ). I really dont think there's a need for sub-board. Surely the popside is for all sorts of subjects non footie related? Doesnt really matter if its a political or otherwise, if people dont like a thread then skip past it (yes I know they show up on last 75 but just scroll past them).

Lambie we would not have moved any threads into that room, I did one only to test it. I have taken on board all your views and have closed the room down. I was just trying to find a way to keep everyone happy, an impossible ask I know ;D
