It seems that the rumours up here are true. John Sheridan's son has made Plymouth his "liked" team on Facebook so it looks like Shezza is going to be the new boss at Home Park.
Anyone who has sympathy for Argyle should start to pray right now, while those who look forward to seeing them in the Conference can feel smug. John Sheridan was, by all accounts, a very good player but he is a poor manager who had money thrown at his squad by Chesterfield's multi-millionaire owner and yet still, after 3 years, left a worse team than the one he inherited, while also alienating several of his players, the fans and the media with his grumpy personality.
Sheridan's dismissal by Oldham followed a big fight at Belle Vue greyhound track. Not wishing to land the TFF in the libel courts I shan't pass on the rumours around his mysterious departure from Chesterfield, where no-one seems really to know whether he was sacked or resigned while on gardening leave. Suffice it to say I expect Plymouth's whizz kid chairman to rue the day if he is expecting Shezza to lead his team out of trouble.
Oh dear. Poor old Argyle.

This was pretty much my reaction too. They'd have done well to get Phil Brown or Keith Hill but money was going to be an issue - that being said, if Keith Hill is asking for too much money, he has forgotten where (as in the level of football) he has only just come from
Either way they need a miracle worker. Started fearing for them (as much as a Torquay fan can fear the demise from the league of a major rival) when I saw them at Plainmoor - yes, they got the draw, but they looked short of ability. With Barnet, Aldershot and now Wimbledon doing their best to dig themselves out of it and Rovers inevitably bound to improve at some point, I think they may even be favourites to go down at this point. Seems James Brent the Messiah has had all the effect of David Brent

Did I hear correctly on the local news that Guy Branston has joined Plymouth on loan? I was sad to see him leave Plainmoor when he did and not sure it ended up being the best move he ever made.

Yes many pages on PASOTI and Argyle fans seem delighted. I think it could clinch their relegation!! I loved Guy when he was here and voted for him as player of the season in both of the seasons he had with us. Big, strong, and dependable with a huge will to win and he was just what we needed when he came in to pull us away from relegation back to the Conference at the first attempt. He came to us though under a cloud and since he has left he has moved from club to club getting only a few games. I would be surprised if he is still playing for Argyle in April. I would wish him well for what he did for us and hope it works out but Argyle have a worse team than we did when Guy joined us. I would not like to see Argyle relegated (just as I didn't want Exeter to go down when they slipped out of the Football League) as it is bad for Westcountry football, but if this is the ace up Sheridan's sleeve I do fear for them!!

I also want Plymouth to remain in the football league as Devon does need three league teams. Mind you it might just humble some of their fans if they did end up in the conference as too many of them feel their club really belongs in the Championship. There is that word belong again, but clubs end up where they do on merit and I'm sure there are some football fans who might feel the Plymouth fans are lucky to still even have a club at all.

Worth bearing in mind that Purse is still a very good defender for this level who played at a higher level than Branston
