Yesterday morning I checked my emails and had one from Paypal informing of a payment I had made to Facebook at 2am in the morning. Only thing was I was fast asleep at that time and so it most certainly was not I who gave my permission to Facebook to get a payment from Paypal.
Many months ago I was offered 1.000.000 poker chips by Facebook for about £1 and did take up the offer, it does seem by doing this I set it up so Facebook could take funds from Paypal again.
I contacted Paypal and explained I had bought nothing yesterday from Facebook and I also contacted Facebook about this matter. Facebook came back and said a family member or friend had made the request but they were not in a position to let me know who it was or the email address that was used.
Paypal did get my money back for me and I emailed Facebook again and told them no one has any access to my PC at all and despite them telling me no fraud had taken place, I told them that was not the case and I wanted to know who bought what ever was purchased.
They have now replied and have told me I have to go to court before they will release any information and then went onto say it might not be possible even then due to any technical issues that could happen.
As I have got my money back and I do not see any point in going to get a court order, but I have gone into my Paypal account and have been able to make changes so Facebook can't take any more money etc. I have also changed all my passwords etc.
The thing is I do not believe for one second anyone has used my Paypal account, they would never have been able to guess the password used in a month of Sundays. It could be no more than a mistake made by Facebook, but I do feel they should not have the right to hold back any information, if in fact there was someone in the first place who used my Facebook account.
