A slightly early thread but I'm going to struggle to get much time at a computer this week although if everything goes to plan then this is a game I intend to get to! If the Plymouth match goes ahead then this will be the first match in the second half of the season and will represent our first opportunity of a double after that amazing comeback first time around.
Although Aldershot got the better of us in the BSP, we have done much better back in the league and in fact have won the previous three encounters. In fact the last six games have all ended with a winning result, 4-2 in our favour, all by a single goal apart from the start of the sequence when we won 0-2 at their place back in April 2010.
Aldershot have not had a good time of things this season and are just off the bottom with 21 points from 23 games. They have moved things around a bit since we last played them with Branston moving on loan to Bristol Rovers and bringing in Spanish striker Dani Lopez on loan from Stevenage to pep up their attack with some success scoring 4 goals. Other goal threats to look out for are top marksman Craig Reid and one club man Danny Hylton.
Unfortunately, Brian Saah won't be back for this one but barring a disaster at Plymouth, the injury front should be much improved on last week.....

Perhaps we can keep the postponements going until we have a full squad back! I see Lingy is now stating that he is looking for a big target man as cover for Rene. I always understood that before Rene came to us he played off a target man and wasn't considered as such though has done an exceptional job. Rene Howe himself may benefit from having a more physical and robust partner as hes been expected to shoulder far to much responsibility on his own as a lone target man and score goals on a regular basis. Probably why the goals have dried up for him on the heavier pitches even having to drop deep to see anything of the ball at times and the Southend match emphasised that he needs more physical help.

Not the first time we have seen games lost over the Xmas period, its usually down to snow or just frozen pitches at this time of the year, not rain and then more rain. The Bay is once again taking another good bashing from the wind and the rain and I'm sure that is much the same in other parts of the country.
It might just help us in the end, a chance to get some players fit again and a much needed rest for those who have had to play in nearly every game for us so far. By the time this game ends up getting played we might have an extra new player or two and stand a much better chance of getting the right result.
