I've looked on Conference Ground Guide, and looked at the information on there about Wokings ground. I was wondering, though, because it didn't say on that site whether there away end is covered or not.
Did anyone on here go last season, and was it covered?
Thanks in advance, Nick

Not sure myself, but Merse, or romfordkev should know, may well be others, so you should get an answer.

It's an open terrace all down one side, but you can sit under cover on the other side......................not a good ground by any means, only one stand worthy of the BSP and it looks like someone has nicked it from a proper ground and dumped it there! You won't be made welcome in their social club either...............come and join us in the adjacent snooker club by the away turnstiles. A somewhat stuck up and stuffy club in a snooty town.

Oh right thanks Merse. Me and my Dad were thinking of going up, but he wasn't to keen on an open terrace as it's expected to rain all weekend, so he said. I doubt we're going to go to it now, after I tell him its an open end.
On another note, I'm interested to hear you say that it's not a very welcome place to go, as on the Conference Ground site, it says its one of the BSP's most welcoming grounds!
Thanks again, Nick.

I must echo the comments made by Merse. I, and all of the Hampshire Gulls were at this one last year and away fans are not welcome in the social club. However the snooker club were so very nice to us and very welcoming. They wont let you play snooker though! Also take note: if it is a cold day it is so wide open you will freeze to death. Wrap up well!!!!

I was there last season, but trying to remember which ground it is. Would it be the one where I walked through a park on my way from the station to the ground??
Looks like I'll be doing the journey alone this year. My normal partner in crime is away on a hen weekend.

Well make sure you meet up with Merse and some of the other capitalgulls, you can't play snooker, but pocket billiards should be OK ;D

Yep, you can walk through the park on the way from the railway station.
The park is probably the town's redeeming feature together with this country's first purpose-built mosque - worth a visit - which dates from 1889, the same year as Woking FC was founded.
Well I never...
Victorian London chose to bury its dead at Brookwood just down the road - special "necropolis trains" once left from Waterloo - and the Martians in HG Wells' The War of the Worlds landed nearby.
Delia Smith was born in Woking. And so were The Jam.
Apart from that Woking is not at all interesting.
And - yes - it's an odd ground.
