Well we know that there will always be whispers going around surrounding events at our club and the ones I was hearing concern the on loan keeper Bevan.
Some seem to think that a deal has been done and he will now sign once the transfer window is open in January. I also heard that once a deal is sorted out, then Poke will be returning to his own club.
If this happens I would be very pleased as I have never believed we would really stand much chance of signing Poke anyway.I would also be very surprised to ever see Rice back at the club, I'm sure his contract ends this season and I would think Turuo would want to sign him then.
Getting Bevan on a proper contract, can only be good for our push for promotion in the second half of the season, we need to know we have a keeper tied down until the last game we need to play. Loans are fine when the manager needs to make good use of them, but we all know that loan players can get recalled.
I would hate to not go up, because we found ourselves with no decent keeper to play in the key games toward the end of the season.

I hope so, Dave. I believe the rumours to be true.

Just like we failed to remain in League 1 due to having a huge gap between the sticks ahead of signing Marriott when it was nearly too late (other than Phil Barnes), last season saw us suffer hugely as we failed to resolve the glovesman situation. I wouldn't go as far to say that it definitively cost us promotion, but it had a hugely negative effect.
It would be grat if we could sign Bevan. I think that he is a class act for this level (even if some seasoned posters said he had a stinker at Eastbourne - I hope it was a one-off!) and is so imposing.
I am very surprised that we seem to be able (if the rumours are true) that we are able to bring-in Bevan and are possibly chasing Josh Low. Great if it comes-off.

But beware how many times have we signed a loanee and then they go down hill. Whilst I hope he does sign he is playing for a contract. If we sign Bevan and Poke returns then who would be our no.2 Rice?

The Herald Express indicates today that Bevan will put pen to pater today and will be signed up as our player, ready to go into tomorrows game. This is the good news we have been waiting for and unlike last season, we will have a top keeper and not have to worry about the keeper being recalled.
He is such a gentle giant, he never seems to say much to his defenders, just gets on with his own game. I would expect to see Poke going back very soon and if he does I would like to thank him for the part he has played in our season.

Does it say its an 18 month contract? I did not see it stated how long the contract would be, but you would expect that it would be at least 18 months, if not longer.
