It'll be Moyes. And what an uninspiring, lacklustre choice it'll be

It'll be Moyes. And what an uninspiring, lacklustre choice it'll be I suspect you are right but he has done ok on a tight budget and like us has to invest in youth which Manu to their credit have done more than most. I doubt sir Alex Ferguson was held in that high regard when appointed but look what he has done since!

Ferguson was regarded as the best manager in Britain when he was appointed - at Aberdeen he had won 3 Scottish titles and the European Cup Winners' Cup (back when it mattered - they beat Real Madrid in the final)
The thing with Moyes is he's completely untested at this level - Everton are, or were, a big club but their level of budget keeps them outside the big boys. He has also not won a major trophy there, despite having plenty of good opportunities to do so. His teams have been tough but have wilted under big game pressure - he has yet to win away from home against Man Utd, Liverpool, Chelsea or Arsenal. He has no experience managing the sort of egos he will now be responsible for at Old Trafford, and has minimal experience of managing in the Champions League
I can't help but think this will end up similar to the transition after Busby's retirement - McGuinness might have been younger and less experienced as a manager but the result was that he couldn't handle the big name stars in the squad and Busby ended up returning after 18 months. Ferguson will be one of those who will find it difficult to give up - he is of the Michael Schumacher mould, where he just loves competing and winning, and has incredible motivation and drive to reach the top of his sport. As soon as he has recovered from his hip operation, I bet he'll suddenly realise he wants back in, and Moyes will find himself under massive pressure if Utd slip behind Man City and Chelsea
If Mourinho goes to Chelsea, they are hot favourites for the Premier League and with good reason - an exciting group of young attackers that are still developing, potentially headed by Rooney who is still one of the best strikers in the world, and Mourinho's an expert at creating that defensive solidity they will need to become a force again in England and Europe

Moyes now confirmedI take your point about Moyes - only time will tell but who can tell what time he will have!
