Thanks for the updates there Stefano. It sounded like a good work out with the goals spread out amongst the side with all the strikers finding the back of the net. Hopefully someone can post a match report up at some point. It would be interesting to compare the performances of say Stevens/Macklin on the right wing and say Nicholson / LRT at left back. The main positive for me is Kee managed a good half of football and does not sound like anyone limped out of action meaning we start the season with only Leadbitter not available but Oastler is one of the PSF sucesses and is looking very strong at right back anyway.

Line up is: Olejnik, Oastler, Saah, Robertson, Nicholson, Macklin, Mansell, O'Kane, Morris, Atieno, Howe. This team finished the game: Rice; Oastler, Ellis, Robertson, Rowe-Turner; Stevens, Lathrope, O'Kane, Halpin; Kee, McPhee. I'd be happy with the first-half team starting next week. Dominated throughout today - two goals in the first half didn't really tell the story; four in the second probably over-egged the pudding a little. Attendance: 506.

Are Truro part-time? If they are, I wonder how much their efforts at Home park took out of them. May have been a bit leggy in the 2nd half.
Still all in all a very good pre-season. One that sets the Burton game up nicely. Looking forward to seeing the new line up.

There’s praise at: www.cornwallfootballforum.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=18371tigertalk.myfanforum.org/about2515.html&sid=fca7a8ceba45854ae457d06be67aa010Another good performance from Oastler today. If he does that well in League Two.... Next week will be the start of the acid test, of course, but in terms of progress from the Monday after Old Trafford I don’t think we could have asked for much more at this point. The first month of the season – not an easy one – will tell us so much. Which of us will be right or wrong? I'm actually looking forward to the start of this season more than the last couple - even the first one back in the league - simply because of the intrigue in seeing how it pans out one way or the other. I'm not making a prediction but, whereas I was considering giving my more-often-than-not promotion bet a miss, I won't do so now. I'll hasten to add this is based on the theory that, if we've a chance of finishing in the top half of the table, promotion isn't a totally outlandish proposition. But, hey, top half will do me and that's a raising of expectations from 18th three or four weeks ago and 15th a fortnight back. Will be interesting to see how Truro fare with an unchanged squad, save for a new ‘keeper (who didn’t play today) and one or two local lads added to the pool. Although Conference South is a big step-up I don’t expect them to struggle. Should they do so, finding new players won’t be easy.

Truro are still part-time and most of their squad are in a similar position to myself: living in Exeter and working in Cornwall part of the week! They've done tremendously well up-to-now but, for the most part, they've been blessed with players of a higher standard than the league they've been in at the time. Indeed, until the last two seasons, that was to a ridiculous extent. But that's not just about money, it's also about selecting the right players - which they've done - and developing the appropriate mentality. And, for the latter, Lee Hodges deserves much credit. Look at their side today and, if you've followed Truro's progress over the last five years, you'll see plenty of familiar names. Quite simply they are the best non-league players in Devon (plus old Mr Hayles down from London). I believe Jake Ash is the only regular who is a Cornish resident: Brooks, McConnell, Walker, Pugh, Adams, Clay, Taylor, Broad, Yetton, Watkins, Smith. Subs: Afful, Ash, Cooke, Hayles, Martin, Palmer.

Can`t read tigertalk, I assume it`s much the same as cornwallfootballforum? Is that because you don't get tigers in oz? Seriously, I did sign up to read their forum last night, not a great deal of comment but the general consensus was that we were the best team that they had played this season which of course included Plymouth and Yeovil. Someone even wondered if we would loan Rice back to them.

I`m a Hawk (Hawthorn), Anne Sandford is a Kangaroo (North Melbourne), even good old Aussie Rules has a British following or should I say a following from Briton!
