It has been quite a fractious week on this forum with members deleting their accounts and this forum almost being deleted itself. However, we are still here and I hope that we get back to reading reasoned debate about the club that we all support! The poster with the most votes this week holds very strong and principled views and he ain't afraid to express them. They come across very clear in his points about the Plymouth situation in how local businesses can get shafted when their bills are not paid and then asks how this is fair on other clubs that do pay their bills? So well done on the Thai Were Rabbit himself and for once not alone on this. Wozzer, please explain to me why you think Plymouth Argyle are deserving of any special treatment. The fact is that PA and all the other insolvent clubs (including Excreta) are cheats. They have cheated by spending money they don't have on players they can't really afford in order to gain an advantage over clubs that don't cheat. Where was your concern for the fans of honest clubs when PA corruptly bought results and therefore Championship status? Why should we have any compassion for you now you've been caught? You and all the other cheating clubs should not be bailed out. The people in charge should go to jail along with the Madoffs of this world. It is the local community that has been screwed. Local suppliers robbed of money. Local businesses affected by corrupt practices. Ask them how they feel about bailing out PA, they're gonna get 0.007p in the pound. Tell you what I'll donate a tenner at your insulting rate.........there you go 7p, now feck off!!

Waits for Lambie............patiently! I think pretty much everyone agrees with DTG that those in charge at Argyle ripped off the local community and made mugs of their rivals by running a racket rather than a football club. I just feel most of the staff and fans have been shafted too. I've no problem with being called a leftie, so long as you don't accuse me of being in the same camp as liberals, trots, tankies or right-wingers like Karl Marx

By the way, what the feck is a trot? I always thought they were runny turds? I always put you down as a `just left of middle` sort of a person! And I don`t mean lopsided!

Trots are left-authoritarians who produce annoying placards and pretend any and every demo or picket is about them them when in fact it never is. As for myself, it depends where you define by 'middle' ;D I oppose the state in all its forms ('left' or 'right') because it exists only to maintain hierarchy and the people who control it. But I oppose capitalism because it leads inevitably to the same hierarchies maintained by the state. Ridsdale and Madoff are just the sort of bloodsucking leeches that thrive under capitalism, the latter just wasn't careful enough about who he ripped off. Like Dave, I call myself a libertarian. But unlike Dave I do not conclude state monopoly of hierarchical power - bad, property owners monopoly of hierarchical power - good. Anarchist would be an equally accurate description, but anarchism is much misunderstood and gives people the wrong idea

The way I see it is that libertarian can mean economically or socially liberal. You've got right-libertarians who are economically liberal but often have a tendency to be socially conservative - you could consider the likes of Milton Friedman, Ayn Rand and Ron Paul under that label. Then you've got left-libertarians who are socially liberal but tend to be economically socialist, hence the alternative term 'libertarian socialism' The best representation of it for me is the Political Compass, whereby the X axis measures economic policy and the Y axis measures social policy. This is where the British parties stood last year for the election - as you can see, Labour and the Tories weren't too far apart on social policy (in fact, Labour was to the 'right' of the Tories) but there was still a big difference economically: www.politicalcompass.org/

I've taken the test in the past and usually end up somewhere to the left and south of the reactionary Ghandi ;D It's better than the 'left-right' dichotomy, but is pretty limited. Take the question: How can you give an intelligible answer if you seek the abolition of both corporations and the state? I suspect its main job is to prove to most people that they're more reasonable than the US Republican Party

Hmm, well, actually I believe it was set up by British people (I seem to remember Glenys Kinnock being linked with it) and it has been accused of bias towards the Lib Dems

Love how this thread has evolved! Interesting to see that all three main GB parties are to the right of Hitler and that the Tories would have been a lot better getting into a coalition with the Labour Party who are a lot closer both economically and authoritarian-wise. ;D

Right!? WTF is going on? I toddle off to Singapore for a week, don't touch a computer and when I get back here, log on and I've turned yellow. How in the heck was that allowed to happen? Jayzus, it must have been slow on here for me to get it. Please don't do it again, I have a reputation to live down to!

After Trotsky who was a Marxist. As opposed to Harpo who never said much.
