My mother used to often recall being on Abbey Sands with her young brother when it was machine gunned by a messerschmitt
fighter plane. She apparantly hid in the rocks at the end of the steps opposite the station
At this time & until the late sixties her family ran & lived in Cockington Dairy in Walnut Road, Chelston & her brothers Bill & Dennis still live in Torbay.
