i'm in a very optimistic mood today, and given the thrashing vale suffered on weds night i'm backing us to both continue our fantastic run of clean sheets and return to devon with the 3 points
i've backed the win at 2/1, to win from both -1 and -2, the clean sheet at 5/2 and also 0-2 0-3 benyon to score at any time!
hopefully we'll be picking from a full strength squad today, roll on 3pm!

That mid-week mauling may prove to be a problem for us... you can bet that the'll be "up for it" and out to prove a point...my take is that if we can go at them from KO and perhaps snatch an early lead then they might crumble... the worst thing to do will be to let them get an early advantage, either in posession or a goal... we can't afford to be on the back foot this afternoon....
Nevertheless, I'm hoping for a 2-0 win, but believe we'll struggle for a draw.....(with or without a clean sheet)

...fingers crossed for the game up at Vale this afternoon, bruv Mr_How Long Nige? has driven up from Torquay, taking Paul Coysh (groundsmans' mate extraordinaire) and his dad with him - the hardest part is usually finding Vales' god-damned ground - no signposts - it sort of exists in some sort of bizarre, Brigadoon-like, twilight world - heres' to most importantly the three points for us today and hopefully keeping the record going as well, I'm sure we ALL are so proud of the players for the commitment they are showing these days - that is all we can ask of them I feel, and each and every one of us is only too aware of THE 39 min barrier............
.......they ain't laughing and sniggering at, mocking and patronising pathetic, parrot-wielding, dummy-waving "little ol' Turkey United" these days are they, ain't that the truth............
...come on lads - do it for us again today.......

Dave Take one of them new fangled wireless things with you. 1453 AM is your friend ;D ;D I’m a man you know and I have always understood its only woman who can multitask to be honest I have tried in the past to watch Ant play and take the photos I enjoy doing and listen to the game on the radio and have struggled to do all three at the same time. I will be going to watch Ant play at Ipplepen and will just take my camera and phone, hopefully the signal will be fine there and I will be able to check the forum for any updates on the game. It will be a good opportunity to test out those new generation rechargeable batteries that can be used straight out of the packet now they have had their first charge and I’m hoping they will continue to impress me. Good luck to the boys today and good luck to Ant who I’m just sure will find the net a few times as he always has done since I first stood on the touchlines and watched him score his very first goal aged just 6 years old. Now 29 years on I still enjoy as much every goal he does score as much as I enjoyed that very first one

I am not so sure that the players are feeling any pressure about the goals conceded record - I am sure Buckle will be happy with a 4-3 win today. Hard game on paper but I think League 2 really mirrors what it was like last season, and that is there isn't anything special. I would not read anything into Carling Cup Form good or bad, other than Port Vale had an extra game this week which could possibly favour us. As I say this looks a hard game but if you look at the team match ups it we do have some special players with the likes of Zebroski and Ellis for example and they are better than anything Port Vale have. I have thought that if we are to do really well this year then one or two of the "lesser" players have to really step up and Danny Stevens certainly seemed to fit the bill last week. O'Kane also looked pretty good when he came on and never wasted one pass. Hopefully Billy Kee can sort his fitness out but he needs to step up - it isn't hard to see why he did not start regularly for Accrington last year, and I think we could actually do with an additional striker. I will go for a 0-0 today.

Something of a selection suprise as Carlisle is in and both Kee and Gritton start on the bench - perhaps Buckle sees their two centre halves lacking pace - I never rated Owen at all when he was here. Macklin does not make the bench.

Is it me or do P.Vale have a chuffin big pitch! 114yds x 77yds as opposed to our 112 x 74..............what makes it seem even bigger is the distance between the touch and goal lines and the fans. Add on the fact that it is a big and impressive looking ground and players and spectators alike feel they're in acres of space, and I do believe it was once a lot bigger than that but that modern day managers have preferred to condense the total area of play.. Certainly one of the two really good (Bradford City being the other) grounds in League 2!

Somebody explain that one to me? According to the commo. Benyon scored after the ball came off the keeper following Zebs shot. So he must have been o/s when Zebs struck the ball. Understand that but if you think of it with phases of play then he isn't.
Is the o/s rule clear or is it up to the ref!

Their crowd seem partisan - dodgy booking for Nico by the sound of it and possibly a debatable offside decision for the goal - lets hope the ref is strong, I senese that we might get a red card in this game.

Thankyou, I always try never to sit at the ends of grounds (just personal pref.) and of course at PV you have no choice. 0-2 as I type bang goes my pre match prediction!!! BUCKLE OUT!

Dave ~ regards offsides: As ever, it's always up to the ref and so it should be! 2-0 up now and Zebs has got the second, like you I only got on late (Anthony's football takes Saturday priority) but this sounds impressive.

I am on the Fm frequency for the commentary and they do the other games and the rugby so were off air for the goal. 2-0 blimey we are flying. Got to give Buckle some credit for his team sel here - it does not seem that they can cope with Benyon and Zebs up front.
