FA cup fourth round draw all done. We are at home against: 25 Oct 2008 15:00 Torquay United v Atherstone Town / Chipstead I dont know either of the teams, Here are the links. www.theadders.com/www.chipsteadfc.com/ Any history or links between the clubs anyone? My memory is dreadful, we could have played them both last year for all I can remember!

We've never played Atherstone Town, that's for sure, unless it bypassed me in the last four years. They are a 'new' team formed after the liquidation of Atherstone United in 2004.
Chipstead - I honestly didn't even know they had a football team, and I used to live not too far from there!! But given that they got knocked out of the FA Trophy 7-1 recently by Leighton Buzzard, I'd be hoping this might be a banana skin we step over!

Well lets hope we put a full strength team and make sure we get into the next round. While this game will earn little for the club, making progress through the rounds will hopefully bring some better pay days.
Money much needed and maybe some glory along the way, not that we will win the cup, but stranger things have happened. ;D
Just need to make sure we are the keeper sorted out properly.

I think with the strength in depth we got, would be inclined to rest a few players such as Hargreaves who has been ever present and needed pain killing injections for yesterday's match. I don't think it would disrespect any team in the conference, let alone three divisions below us to play Thompson and Wroe / Adams in central midfield for example. Mansell has also played every game so maybe Robertson could cover and give the opportunity for Ellis perhaps to make his return after injury. Not sure if Rice will have to come back to cover in goal. Up front Green will be resting his knees for the next three games so maybe a bit of a gamble to rest Sills who again looks like he could do with a week off. We have got a strong squad and I think we can use it and still be confident about winning this match. Remember what happened last year when the same eleven players couldn't keep our run going shortly after Christmas. At the end of the day it is all about promotion.

Blimey Brett, don't you realise that we are NOT yet in the competition, just as we haven't been until now for the FA Cup or the FA Trophy! Wake up down there in sleepy old Pompey!

While this game will earn little for the club, making progress through the rounds will hopefully bring some better pay days. Getting to the First Round is potentially a big earner for Non League clubs from gate receipts for replays according to the Rules "The 5% payment to The Association for replayed matches in the First, Second, Third, Fourth, Fifth and Sixth Rounds of the Competition Proper shall be divided at the completion of the Competition amongst all the Clubs outside the FA Premier League and The Football League playing in the First Round of the Competition Proper."
