Interesting looking at that cricket fixture line up and blimey making me feel old as played a few times against Dave Webber, Joey Oliver and Chris Hunt. Despite being a Newton lad I didn't enjoy it at the Rec when I went as a youngster in training and went out to Bovey Tracey instead and played for them for several years. Dave Webber was my form teacher too and didn't like me not playing for them and had to laugh when Bovey took South Devons place in the Devon league. South Devon have had a horrific couple of years and are at the lowest league level they have ever been, playing league matches with sides they wouldn't even have had a sunday friendly with back in that scorecards era. A turbulent few years that’s for sure Darren but let’s not forget this sort of thing happens to many different Clubs, in many different sports and all levels too! Four years ago, I doubt if Wolves ever imagined playing league matches against Stevenage and Crawley, and being a division below Yeovil Town either. I've just seen some of this seasons fixtures and you are right. The thought of us playing teams such as: Shaldon Optimists, Clyst Hydon and Ottery St Mary at first eleven level would have been unthinkable back then but hey ho, shit happens and we are where we are for a reason. But if only we could have convinced you to sign back then things could have been so different today. I guess we will never know.

I never set the world alight at Bovey but enjoyed my time there a lovely place to play.
It was always nice to put one over South Devon for a while but really don't want to see them there. A town the size of Newton Abbot should be in the top one or two divisions. However they have started with a big win and im sure Neil Hancock will be an inspired signing on and off the pitch and get back to where they were
