Middle French, or possibly latin, although the first known use in English was in circa 1605...

first known use in English was in circa 1605... That's nonsense. Lambeth used it c. 1441. DTG's animus towards Paul Buckle was the talk of the nation's pubs, restaurants and dining tables

currently leading Rochdale 2-0 at Rochdale in the FA Cup. Come on!! love to see them in the 3rd round proper and take on Manure and beat them!! well i can dream, can't I? Another dream is to see AFC Wimbledon beat or overtake Milton Keynes Cons The two situations seem quite different to me. There’s definite unfinished business from the Wimbledon perspective and, you would imagine, unequivocal animosity from their supporters towards MK Dons (and what flows from the opposite direction – awkwardness?). The FCUM/MUFC one is harder to understand (is FCUM mainly anti-Glazer? Anti-big time football in general? Pro-supporter control and ownership? Pro-retaining old-style terrace culutre?). How, indeed, does each feel towards the other? I’d like to see a few FCUM matches to try to discover what it’s all about – although, from what I can gather, the whole thing sounds like a good laugh at the very least and a reminder of the days when following Man Utd was a pretty laddish experience (whatever happened to the Cockney Reds?) Inhabiting separate universes is clearly part of the appeal and I rather suspect it might be best if the two clubs didn’t meet. And, another thought, will FCUM call themselves Newton Heath and revert to green-and-yellow when they move to the new stadium? Or will they remain as they are? Either way, I certainly fancy playing them in the second round.
