As you may know, unable to park at the hospital and needing to be by Carols side, as she was about to have chemo no5, I parked In Staples car park. I only had one thought and that was to get my short legs going as fast as they could to get to the Ricky Grant Unit. Only to return to the car park later and find a £50 fine ticket stuck on my car.
This has had to be sent to a P.O Box ( nothing to do with Staples some private company) and I knew there was no chance Of them having any understand about our situation. I wrote to Staples to let them know how I felt about the events in their car park and today received the following email.
Dear Dave,
Thank you for your recent letter regarding the Parking Fine you have received at our Torquay store. I am sorry to hear that you have received this.
Unfortunately, our store in Torquay is rented from a private landlord, and they have recently made an agreement with the company in question Premier Park Ltd, to monitor the car park. This is to ensure members of the public are not misusing or abusing our car park to park there vehicle for an alternative reasons for example to visit the town or another retailer. Staples do not have any authority over this as the parking company argue that our customers are fully aware of the parking restrictions as it is notified around the car park.
As you did leave your car in Staples and visit the Hospital the parking company will not cancel this for you, however we at Staples believe that due to your circumstances on the day, parking was the least of your priorities. Due to this please advise me of the amount paid which i believe to be £50 as per your email, as Staples would like to on this occasion reimburse you for the fine paid as a gesture of goodwill.
Once i have the relevant information from you i will raise and cheque and send this out to you. Please can you advise me of your full name and your home address in which to send this too.
I hope that this goes someway to restoring your faith in our company, and this incident does not deter you from shopping with Staples in the future. If you have any questions or require further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Yours sincerely,
