Justin
Perhaps I used the need to make the challenge as a poor example, but my main point is that Rowe-Turner is not good enough and not what we need at the moment. He may make it at League two level, but he is a liability at the moment. Yes, I'd rather Smith play ahead of him - any Smith for that matter be it Delia, Mel or Annna Nicole!
I think Macklin is equally poor and an equally strange signing.
Anyway, lets not worry about it tonight - whilst managing to look completely disjointed and void of any real quality we are somehow eight points clear of relegation. Brilliant. The playground bully is looking for a ruck and I have better things to do than humour him tonight.

What is pretentious or priggish about my question? ~ you've been put in your place by both Justin and I now accept that your noncey preference for a player to cave in and give up is out of order. I don't know who Peter Drake was ~ shows your ignorance then, perhaps if you could spell his name correctly the penny would drop, I hadn't forgotten that Justin learned a lot of his lessons in life from Harry Smith - those thoughts are rarely out of mind when I take any decision in life. Look pal, you're not superior to others who have a more pragmatic view; you just think you are and your sneering, patronising manner just gets up my nose. You call a young player "incompetent" based on how many times viewing him? I suppose YOU were a bloody World Class Sunday player eh? and when you want to talk about "incompetence" on a football pitch, that was far more pertinent to David Shawcross' challenge on Aaron Ramsey tonight than one with any malice....................using that tragedy in relation to Rowe-Turner is a cheap bloody shot. I suggest you spend your next match day at the ballet!

Merse you are hardly in a position to put anyone in their place when you were not at the game and did not see how poorly Rowe-Turner played or the challenge that I felt at the time should have been a straight red.
Reading all the excellent match reports on here( many thanks to everyone) its clear he won no fans over today and If I'm 100% honest I was hoping the card was going to be red as I really felt on todays showing he should not be selected again ahead of Smith or Nico.
A polite reminder we debate on the TFF and not look to insult fellow members or try and win arguments by claiming others are on your side, debate is just that and not about having to be right or winning just for the sake of it.

Whether I am at a game or not, if I read pretentious rubbish suggesting we should not be doing all that is possible to (a) prevent another defeat and (b) secure a first win in ten games then I am going to forcefully make my point that people who aire such views are quite frankly not deserving of a team to support that clearly is doing just that. Justin who made the point with which Enzo took issue with is an experienced sporting competitor and proven club captain who calls a spade a spade and knows just what it takes to secure a foothold in a game that has repeatedly kicked one in the goolies. Young players who have already in their careers secured professional contracts at TWO clubs do not deserve to be instantly judged "incompetent", do not deserve to be ridiculed but do certainly deserve to be afforded the recognition that they are trying manfully to get to grips with a situation with which they have little or no previous experience; namely playing FIRST TEAM football with all the extra urgency and competitiveness that it holds over second team or development football. I'm sure Justin would never be so uncaring nor instantly dismissive of just such a young second team player coming into his first team. To state that you hoped the young lad incurred a red card to satisfy your rather naive and innocent view of professional football with all it's competitiveness and lack of tolerance towards failure Dave is in my mind; quite pathetic. I am sure the manager is quite prepared to take all the usual flack for taking a punt on a rather young and inexperienced player, but then people haven't been saying that about Eunane O'Kane have they, but where's the difference?

Branston straight red or was I the only one in the ground to see him lash out at a accy player? Good job the ref never saw it. The reckless tackle made by Rowe-Turner and the assistant referees apparent injury time lapse of concentration. Incompetent officials? All of a sudden we love them.

Dave........when you say he won "no fans over", i think you're forgetting me......i was impressed with the way he responded to a very difficult oponent, so to a degree he won me over. The fact that you, Enzo and all on .net who, judging from a read of that site, think that a young player we are trying to DEVELOP is total crap and shouldn't play again after his 1st 2 league appearances..........is very unfair....and i sincerley hope that he proves you wrong. The day i hope a TUFC player gets a red card will be my last following this club.......can't believe you're serious

I have no problem with players letting the opposition know they are there, even at the level my son has played at and due to his size he always made sure defenders knew he was there. There is a world of difference between doing that and committing a very dangerous foul that could have caused an injury. Winning is fine but even in football it can't be at any cost and while I know from your past views you are happy to accept and think its just fine to cheat to get a win, its not something I believe in and sure don't want any team I support resorting to it. I'll take being called pathetic by you, I would exceed the word count per a post if I posted all the names I could come up with for you.

The day i hope a TUFC player gets a red card will be my last following this club.......can't believe you're serious Well its a good job I'm not you then Justin as I will be at the game on Tuesday night and every home game until the end of the season and paying full price as I did not take up the season ticket offer as I felt the club would be losing out to much. Maybe one day he may come good and be a half decent player, but we are in a relegation battle and sorry but he is not good enough now and he is hardly going to save us from getting defeated in a game but more likely to be the reason we were.

That shows your naivity, it was described by Justin as being done to make a point to the opponent, the point was made and the opponent then "bottled it" and caused no more problem......job done and proof that Rowe-Turner is learning quickly. Your attitude to professional football would see us relegated sooner than you could ever imagine, so if you are happy for them not to put themselves about then enjoy your football back in the Conference. When I've seen footage of the incident, I'll let you know my opinion as to whether or not it was "dangerous" in the meantime consider that even with no intent whatsoever, no question of studs being shown or leaving a foot in; a serious injury has been inflicted on a young player in the Premiership tonight as a result of poor execution by a player who has just made the England squad. These things can happen, it does not infer "cheating", nor malice or any intent at all. I certainly never regarded getting "dumped on the cinders" by an opponent I had just made a monkey of as part of any serious intent....................mind you I wasn't really that good for it to happen that often!

Justin was a cricket captain and at plainmoor is a supporter like anyone else, his views carry no more weight than anyone else who was at the game who WITNESSED the foul, they are just his views and I had a great view of the foul and have my own views on it.

I felt LRT's tackle was pure and simply borne out of frustration that he had continually been tricked, outpaced and made to look poor by their sub Chris Turner, who I feel would have probably won the game for Accy had he been on from the start.
It was mis-timed, clumsy and (had Turner's leg been planted) could have ended with a similar injury to poor young Ramsey. Although replays of that tackle on MOTD tonight showed little in the way of malice from Ryan Shawcross...it was mistimed by milliseconds and did not use studs at all - in fact it was Shawcross's laces that made contact with Ramsey's planted ankle after he missed kicking the ball. Certainly not a tackle that should bring extra censure despite the predictable whines from Mr Wenger. Tackles like these are always going to have victims and lucky escapees.
I recall a certain Mr Graeme Kelly going on about challenges like that on John Uzzell happening dozens of times in every games - well tackles like LRT's and Shawcross' do happen regularly...sadly young Ramsey was the unlucky one to get the serious injury from it. Watch the highlights of Brum v Wigan and you will see another one from Liam Ridgewell that was equally as bad as either of them (two footed, from the side and sliding) and the only person who got injured was the poor old linesman who got caught in the face by the flying corner flag that came out of the ground after Ridgewell and James McCarthy clashed.
Of course the Ramsey injury is tragic for him, and I hope as well that it doesn't ruin Shawcross as a player as he is a decent defender, much in the mould of a higher-level Mark Ellis, but I have seen far worse tackles end with no injury at all.

The foul by Rowe-Turner was a straight red card (or should have been) - even the most one sided fan cannot really argue that was a booking. Both Rowe-Turner and Macklin are nowhere near good enough. Macklin did nothing in eighty five minutes at Cheltenham and did nothing in forty five minutes today. He is clearly worse than the likes of Stevens,Thomson.O'Kane,Carayol and is surplus to our requirements. A pointless signing. Rowe-Turner is equally as bad. I appreciate that he has little experience but he is nowhere near league 2 standard.
