I was at the Friday night game in 1982.
The last train back to Nottingham was about 9.20 or 9.25, so I timed the sprint a couple of times before the game - should be no problem.
Unfortunately, their seemed to be loads of stoppage time (by 80s standards) so I had to leg it just before the game ended. I hate doing that, but didn't fancy a December night stuck on a train platform in Crewe - although that might be some people's idea of fun - no names mentioned, Chelston.
Can't remember seeing any other Torquay fans there other than Big Les Lawrence - who was at nearby Port Vale at the time and came to cheer us on.

I was on the 9.30 to Preston so was able to wait until the final whistle and then sprint to the station. My 27th birthday - seems like half a lifetime ago (bloody hell, it is). In no state to do likewise these days which explains why I'm booked on the 1722 tomorrow and not the 1701.
