At the request of the club, Torquay United Supporters' Trust are plannong a 'Paint the training ground day' at the club's training facilities at Newton Abbot Racecourse this Saturday.
The idea is to paint the gymnasium which is used by the players and the changing areas where they shower and change after training.
Basically the whole place needs freshening up with a lick of paint and we have agreed to help out. After all, following the performances last season and their promotion to League Two, the players deserve the best we can give them.
We need around 10 people to help us paint and tidy up and make the whole place presentable and welcoming for the return of both the youth players on Monday, June 29 and the return of the first team players on Monday, July 6.
To this end, we are appealing to people to come and help us on Saturday, starting at 10am. For reasons of safety, organisation and convenience we really no more than 10-12 people, otherwise we'll all be getting in one another's way.
If you would like to volunteer to wield a paintbrush and generally lend a helping hand, then please phone Hayden Jones on 07776105886 or Louise Shaw on 07789902182. He will draw up a list of volunteers and give you further instructions about where to meet etc.
We really would be very grateful for your help, as would the club. The Paint the ground day we held a couple of years ago at Plainmoor was a great success inasmuch as it helped the club out, got the place looking spick and span and lots of supporters came together to help out, and many new friendships were forged in the process.
Obviously, time is short so please ring and put your name down as soon as possible to do your little bit in getting the first season back in the league off to a great start.
