Good link Rob. Yep, my result was UKIP followed by Liberals(?). Reduce gov't interference in our lives. Reduce the tax burden and give people choice about where they want the money spent. Stop the "progressives" and their agenda. Give democracy back to the people with a bill of rights and a written constitution. Give people the liberty to make their own choices. What happens if people choose to use their liberty to delegate their choices to an elected representative(s)?

Why would anyone with half a brain want to do that? But if they did it's their choice and the consequences that follow. Abdicating one's personal responsibility is not delegation.

Those of us with a whole brain think these things through Dave. I have no idea about how many Consultant Heart surgeons my local hospital needs for example, or whether I would prefer the local hospital's budget to favour expensive cancer drugs over an equally expensive Acute Stoke Unit. I have no idea about the engineering considerations involved developing the CrossRail system in London, or which syllabus or programme the local school and universities should use. Are you suggesting I and others spend all of our time reading up on this before having our say on these and the thousands of other decisions that need to be taken on a daily basis? It's an ill-thought out shopping list.

I'm sorry, i must have misunderstood. I didn't realise Heart Surgeons were elected or mp's were there to consider engineering. Stupid examples.

Ridiculous examples drawing ridiculous conclusions. Usual smoke and mirror tactics from the progressive manual. Personal liberty and taking personal responsibility is a different subject to day to day running of gov't. We are top heavy with gov't and overpaid state employees safe in their jobs for life and unaffordable union negotiated pensions and benefits. Waste and incompetance is the norm. Let private industry take up the strain and benefit from the freedom of market competition. I await the anti-market progressive mantra.

Your only tactic is to call examples 'ridiculous' and to label those who question your fruitcake views with your cute little epithets and 'insults'.
You know next to nothing about my politics, or my views on the free-market.
The fact that you have the gall to spout about a lack of liberty and accountability in the UK, when the government of your self-proclaimed 'paradise' deploys its army against its own people is, quite frankly, hilarious.

I'm sorry again, when have i claimed thailand as a model of democracy? What has thailands problems got to do with the Uk? Smoke and mirrors again.
Fruitcake views? Really? balancing budgets, reducing spending, limiting gov't control on individual freedom, giving people choices rather than regulations, allowing people to keep their hard earned money and spend it as they wish, getting rid of big gov't and the pig trough they enjoy. If that's being a fruitcake i'm guilty.
You're right i know next to nothing about your politics and frankly don't want to. Give a progressive enough rope..........

I'm sorry again, when have i claimed thailand as a model of democracy? What has thailands problems got to do with the Uk? Smoke and mirrors again. . Nothing. In fact, there’s a distinct lack of tear gas and corpses outside in this oppressive country tonight Dave. As for your little list, I suspect we are not too far apart on individual freedom. I’m a disciple of John Stuart Mill, not Marx or Naomi Klein. I would repeal the smoking ban (one of the most illiberal pieces of legislation ever passed), and would legalise drugs. Free speech should also be sacrosanct. I'm not persuaded by the the laissez-faire economic model you allude to. The state bureaucracy is bloated, and it is absurd for anyone to pretend that it is sustainable, but I remain in favour of, for example, regulation of the banking system. Whilst I believe the state does have a duty to provide healthcare for its citizens, I do not favour the single-payer NHS system. If any of that makes me a 'progressive' or whatever other label you want to pluck from the obscure parts of the blogosphere you visit, then I'll live with that.

Lambie, you know, this t'internet thingy leads to so many misunderstandings. Sounds like we'd agree on many things and disagree as well. Problem is you can't see me and i can't see you. You can't see my body language, congruency and i can't see yours. Conviction about beliefs is what i love to debate and respect. If you can convince me i'm wrong and vice versa then that's what freedom is all about.
When we eventually meet up i'm sure it'll be amicable, fun and banter. We still might not agree but that's life.
5-0!!!!!!

Yes, it does seem ridiculous to be bickering when we won 5-0 against the League leaders! I'm sure it would be more amicable over a beer too. Great victory today, but perhaps not the best time for you to head downtown in your Torquay shirt )

Actually lambie, my wife had a polo shirt embroidered with the Gulls logo on the chest and Torquay United on both sleeves (she even got one for herself!). It's brilliant yellow. She gave it to me for last xmas. This is the first time i've been moved to wear it and i will with pride. Of course being yellow i might have to avoid bangkok. Fortunately Phuket is a yellow shirt stronghold.
