We seem to have lost any real bite up front since Phillips left. Im sure that scoring would'nt be such a problem if he was still here.
Bucks could'nt help losing Zebroski, but to then lose our other main attacking outlet in Phillips was surely a mistake.
Sills is a quality player and will always win the ball in the air but, on account of the fact that he is rather lazy, surely he needs a strong hard working forward like Lee alongside him.

On the face of it, no we shouldn't have got rid of Phillips, but as none of us really know the reason why he was sold its hard to make a judgement. I will still vote no though.

Not bothered he has gone, much the same as most grecians weren't bothered when he moved to us. He is frustrating to watch and whilst he'll always get goals with his bulldozer approach, I do feel in Matt Green we have a much more accomplished all round forward on our books. He'll come good and Phillips will be a distant memory.

I voted no, only because in the games I have watched we have missed someone big and strong to win and hold the ball up front.
I still really want to see Green given a proper chance in the side, if he can deliver what I believe he can, then maybe Phillips will not seem such a big miss as he does now.

Definitely no. I didn't understand why he was let go at all. At first i thought Bucks must have a real gem coming as a replacement, then he signed a crocked player from Oxford. Who,i might add, he has left on the bench nursing his disabilities ever since. Bucks has made mistakes throughout the team.
1. Failed to replace the 35 goals we have lost from our forward line. In fact not even come close. 2. Failed to address our defensive problems. This is the most glaring fault because it was so obvious last season. 3. Failed to improve our midfield. Erm, actually what's the point in having a midfield if you don't intend to use it? But let's sign a shitload of them anyway!
He's failed so far in all departments.

As I said before my main worry for this season is our lack of a strong striker. Rushden are one of the two teams nearest to where I live and the supporters and media were thrilled to get Phillips. We have yet to see what Green can do and I would love it if he proves us all wrong and bangs in 20 goals.

Bhamgull, you and me both mate. I hope i'm made to look a total thingy for my feelings now. But, i honestly believe that won't be the case. I would rather have this thrown back in my face and be proved wrong than be in this league for another season having been proved right.
I still believe that Bucks has the opportunity to grow from this. But with the evidence before us so far i don't think he will. Too many repeated mistakes are testimony to that.

I think you are such a negative man Dave Shaw i think you said you would give him12 games he has only had three so plenty of time to turn things around. I think there is a filter on the site seems you have now made it work twice can you not make your points without having to use rude words.

Dave I don't think what ever Buckle does is going to please you, I really do hope he makes you eat all your words. We simply do not know the real reasons Phillips left do we? we know what Merse thinks and he would like to put the blame on Phillips. I have said before my real worry is that it may just become to personal between Buckle and certain players and If that was the case, it is something that needs to be worked on by the manager. So Green is injured is he? where have you heard that from? he can only really play two strikers, Sills is one who he would always want to start with and Benyon, showed the best form in the pre season games, so its not hard to work out he was probably going to start along side Sills. I think you will find against Woking, Benyon scored one and made one, so once again he was always favorite to start on Monday. Given the service he requires he will get goals and I would go as far as to say, more than Phillips would manage. We do not know also what defenders he went after, I do not believe he did not try to sign at least two, I will agree it is an area of concern, but not one that can't be sorted. I think he has improved our midfield, he just needs to stop the long ball game that has now reappeared and get the team back to a passing game. We do have players who are more than capable playing the ball on the floor, we just need to play every player in their best position, not midfielders in defense etc. This is the squad we now have, these are the players who have got to go out and get results, why don't you spend some time looking at the best team we could put out, based on what we know about them, spend some time thinking how we can start to get the best out of all of them. Its far better than just being so negative, Its a good job you do not have a Berryhead where you live mate. Dartgull is correct in that the forum has a filter running on it, It could have been one of two words you used, I think you are a thingy anyway ;D

Personally, I think Dave makes some good points. I still have confidence in Bucks and he deserves to show what he can do this season with the pressure very much on. Last season the great start was really like a bonus but after a poor end Bucks is now under pressure to deliver for the first time. If he continues to make the same mistakes though, my confidence in him will deteriorate as im sure many others will. For now, I think we have to trust him though.

Erm, actually what's the point in having a midfield if you don't intend to use it? But let's sign a shitload of them anyway! He's failed so far in all departments. Let me take issue with this post: "A crocked player from Oxford"............ Matt Green was signed from Cardiff, it was the Oxford manager who had him on loan and having failed to sign him permanently then petulantly claimed the player had a problem with his knees.................which beggars the question, just why was HE trying to sign him then, and just why was HE so disappointed not to have secured his signature? "Failed to replace the 35 goals we have lost from our forward line".............what, after three games? "Failed to address our defensive problems"................is trying the more constructive Hargreaves at centre back not trying to address the problem? Is trying a different player at left back not attempting that also? Is securing the goalkeeper everyone wanted to see here not an attempt at solving the defensive problems? "Failed to improve our midfield" Only a few weeks ago people were lauding the arrivals of Wroe, Thompson, Brough, Carayol whilst for much of last season certain people were deriding Mansell's midfield efforts as all huff and no guile. Now you claim no "improvement" has been made when NO midfield can reasonably be expected to gel just like that. More the modern day idiom of demanding "instant" success, judging the whole season by half time of the very first home game of the season; and ridiculing the manager mainly through frustration at failing to get over the finishing line last season. I know I've grown old when I no longer have the stomach to be amongst so much negativity and down right stupidity on the Plainmoor terraces. When such an endless barrage of nonsense dulls the enthusiasm I should be feeling right now just to "pop down the road " to Crawley on Saturday to the extent that if I DO go, I'll be sitting as far away from the rapidly disintegrating Yellow Army as I can. What is the "crime" this manager and his team have committed? Surely it's not that they have yet to gel into a cohesive unit after only three games is it?

I cannot believe that the club would NOT have kept Phillips given the chance, and think there must have been some kind of clash of personalities somewhere withing the club, he often appeared to be on the edge of the team last season.
Saying we have not improved the midfield is a joke, the fact that we appear at the moment to bypassing them completely is another issue.
Attempting to slot Hargreaves into defence may have been an imaginative way to cover the holes in that area, but it has not been a success and really ought to be knocked on the head now.
We are still far from a finished team, and in many ways, look less complete than this time last year, which is disappointing for all concerned.
I just hope the performance on Saturday is a big improvement, as I will be making my way to Crawley for my first game of the season.
