Paul McCartney & Wings - Band on the Run (side 1) I'm sure we have some Glee Club fans on this forum (one certainly springs to mind). From the link below - another case of being commercial over artistic merit (and they are sh*te as well!!). www.bloginity.com/blog/2011/01/24/glee-cast-beat-elvis-record/Glee my arse.

Teardrop - Massive Attack Only The Young - Brandon Flowers (I don't really like the Christian Rock/Country bent he went on for his solo album but this song is awesome)

No Phil you’re wrong this time, I am not a fan of glee at all. In fact last week’s episode with Brittany Spears was rubbish, wasn’t it. No I’ve spent all day listening to the best band to walk the planet, you know exactly who I am going to say don’t you? That’s right, Queen. Gary Barlow is definitely not fit to lace Freddie’s shoes. In fact they shouldn't even be mentioned in the same sentence. If Elvis was the King then Freddie was GOD. The beatles aren’t far behind but Queen are THE band. Also Glee, and X-Factor, etc annoy the f*ck out of me whenever they cover a queen song, can't watch it as it really winds me up. Amongst a few of the albums I was listening to was ‘Queen at Wembley’, just amazing. One of the very few regrets in I have in life was not being there for that. I Had hoped to go but was unable to make it as Cruising the West Indies courtesy of one her Maj’s grey cruise liners. I was one of the few who at that time would rather have been in London. Still I did get to see Take That at Wembley ;D, scant consolation though.

I was naming no names, as they say. Although I must cinfess to being surprised at your comments about the Glee club! Queen, I would have to say were better in their earler days - Queen II being my favourite album. Saw them in Paignton in 1974, surely must trump your Take That concert Going to put on Rod Stewart, Sessions (1971 - 1998) Disc 1 with a great early version of Maggie May with different lyrics.

You can keep both of `em, I saw Motorhead at `The Venue` St.Kilda, Melbourne, and AC/DC at `The Melbourne Tennis Centre` with the roof on! Shortly followed by Mick Jagger Down Under and then Pink Floyd in Sydney with a big mother effin` flyin` pig and lazer effects and the whole damn sh1t goin` on. Before that lot got back stage at a Sweet gig, now that was an eye opener! For most of them it was more of an nostril opener!

Queen, I would have to say were better in their earler days - Queen II being my favourite album. Saw them in Paignton in 1974, surely must trump your Take That concert Strangely enough that’s my favourite album as well and agree the older stuff was better. Although I did like some of Freddie’s later stuff, Barcelona & the show must go on brings shivers down my spine. I often wonder what these singers would be like now and what sort of music they would be writing/singing now without their untimely deaths. Are they immortalised through death or were they just great anyway? Buddy Holly (love his music), Marc Bolan (the same), Freddie, John Lennon (ditto), would they still be seen as legends if they were alive now? I think so but there is no doubt that through death their music has been taken to a different level. I suppose one gauge would be Paul McCartney, awesome in the beatles, same with wings and a fantastic solo career and whilst the last few years have been a bit barren I still enjoy listening to pretty much all his stuff. And with the increasing amount of bands getting back together in recent years, what price that Lennon and McCartney would have got back together at some point if Chapman had not needlessly taken his life. I was only 9 in 1974 so it was just before I was really into them but my Brother in law tells he was there, probably just to wind me up, but yes that does trump my Take That concert. Don’t suppose you can remember what they played?? As for glee, apparently they have had some ‘success’, see below; “The Glee cast had 25 singles chart on the Billboard Hot 100, the most by any artist since The Beatles had 31 songs in the chart in 1964. In total, Glee has placed 104 songs on the Hot 100 weekly chart, second only to the 108 entries of Elvis Presley, though fewer than one-fourth have charted for more than one week” That last statistic says it all really, only ¼ have stayed in the top 100 for more than a week. Goes back to what we were saying the other week, if the forum got together and recorded a song we could probably get it in the charts for 1 week. We already have a talented musician running the site ;D

.......remembering John Barry, who has gone to his eternal rest up there at "The Great Gig In The Sky" - a fabulously talented film theme and similar type composer, notably "Out Of Africa", "Born Free", "Midnight Cowboy", "Indecent Proposal", numerous James Bond themes, also TV Themes (Persuaders, Juke Box Jury to name but two) and as far as I am concerned, his greatest work, "Dances With Wolves" - John Barry, I salute you.........
......"The John Dunbar Theme".......fabulous, gorgeous stuff of the highest quality...........
