Well done that man! Gulls fan and local MP Adrian Sanders is on the All Party Parliamentary Football Committee and I reckon he should be lobbied to get these Beeb Bastards slung off the air. They're totally incompetent and wouldn't last five minutes in the commercial radio environment. I've sat many a time at their TV Centre at W12 and wondered what seemingly thousands of the "ants" actually do....................you just have to look at the all pervading Sloppy Joe dress sense to put them on a par with local government and educational types who don't HAVE to actually produce anything and survive in the market place to justify their continued employment. Thus they repeatedly don't manage to produce what they are paid for and STILL get paid for it! Sloppy dress sense=sloppy work standards=sloppy product as far as I'm concerned. Witness BBC Devon's rugby guy - he sounds like Worzell Bloody Gummidge! I'm very angry....................again! National Broadcaster my arse

National Broadcaster my arse I know nothing about public and commercial radio, but would doubt there is sufficient demand for a commercial radio station to ever consider going anywhere near Torquay games. Might be wrong.........maybe you know otherwise?? The service is far from perfect, and I used to get frustrated, but maybe just be grateful for what we have..............and that includes the ridiculous Furphy - Forget Ross and Brand - there should have been an investigation into his continued employment! It may even be argued by non football fans that the cost of the matchday production when compared to the level of audience is a poor use of license money. With regard to your more general point, sample television and radio in other parts of the world...........Europe, Australia, South America and Asia and you may agree with me that the BBC is, in general, something we should be proud of. I have no information about what clothes employees of other broadcasters wear, but the general level of programmes is poor. Imagine a world with just Sky One! All over now, another solid win. Fantastic effort by all concerned. Other results went our way too. Don't forget to congratulate Woodsie on his goal if you happen to be loitering in any car parks tonight

Now THAT was a good performance from Dave Saunders and Jeremy Butler. Commentating standards and hence priorities have improved just lately as they concentrate on the game instead of prattling on about all and sundry.....................perhaps they've been reading this site! A man of many talents is our Mr Butler..............a former near neighbour of mine here in N7, he introduced me to my current occupation before returning to live in the Bay. I bet with a guy his size (about 6' 7") in that little hutch they call a press box at Plainmoor is the reason they use little Dave Saunders (about 5' 5") to go with him. ;D I'll have to give him a call and catch up with life!

A good, 2-0 win over Manfield. A very low crowd today of 2,267...
Compare this gate for example with the Cambridge gate of 3,547. We should be getting around the 3,000 bearing in mind the resent performences, and more important recent results!

It can be as "excellent" as you like, but if no-one can hear it, it's a total waste of space. If commercial radio could not be heard, the advertisers would pull the plug and there would be no income - end of story!

All that money to get in, and they miss one of the greatest moments in their clubs history - wnackers!

Maybe not so impressive for a 'local derby' but they've been getting decent gates, just two gates under the 3,000 so far. On a Dutch forum we were talking about the same issue, the empty seats in the Spurs section on wednesday. You just can't feel sorry for those people...

Another impressive win and the Gulls go marching on ! Crowd 2,267, about 100+ subdued looking fans from Mansfield. Sponsors MOTM the outstanding Carayol who wearing bright orange boots stood out in more ways than one ! The conditions today were pretty nasty with a biting strong wind and occasional rain blowing towards the Ellacombe end.
Torquay had the wind against them in the first half and there were very few clear-cut chances from either side. It was mainly a midfield battle and there was little to choose between the teams. Carayol was mainly left-wing in the first-half and Dsane on the right. Carayol did provide our most exciting moments with his mazy runs. Our main threats tended to be from crosses but the ball did not tend to fall for us in the vital areas. Mansfield had the odd good spell and passed the ball well at times. Their best efforts were a dipping shot just over, and a timely interception from Woods.
Second half with the wind blowing with us, we really took the game to Mansfield and got a deserved breakthrough considering all our pressure. Following an amazing skillful run by Carayol, who had now swapped with Dsane to the right wing, his low cross was stabbed in at close range by Dsane. Torquay were now in full flow and were playing some great stuff, and at the same time looked solid in defence. Torquay won plenty of corners and our second came from one. I don't know if it was intentional, but a low corner from Nicholson (I think), deflected off a couple of players and Woods nodded in from close range at the far post.
For the remainder of the match Torquay still looked the most likely to add. Mansfield had one or two attacks and corners and their wingers looked quite useful. However they lacked a cutting edge, and were well marshalled all afternoon by our back four. Full-time 2-0 and another impressive win in difficult conditions.

Well considering Cambridge let alot of kids in for a very low sum through their youth club I would imagine the income from 3500-4000 crowds isn't much different to ours.
Of course I would love our club to do something similar here. Why not give up empty space to fringe support group and turn them in to regulars.
Very professional proformance today. Played the conditions and the opposition very well.

It was cold wet and damp at Plainmoor today, but another good hard working display by the team and a fully deserved win. There was no point when we looked that we were not In full control Of the match. I thought Hodges looked a but shaky playing at the back, but to be fair he had that Lee to handle, who Is big and like to use his elbows to much for my liking. Carayol playing on the left wing had the beating Of their fullback and was putting In excellent crosses and I was surprised to see him switch with Desane, who did not offer so much on the left. I thought we passed well at times but moves often let down by a some stray passes, but It was wet and windy and we stuck to the passing game.Bevan never had one save to make all match, Woods was once again leading by ex sample as the captain and did not put a foot wrong. Mansfield did have one good effort on goal In the first half, a strong drive from outside the box, that just flew over the crossbar. The had one other chance, It was a lob and from where I was standing I thought It was going In. Second half there was really only one team in It and Carayol playing on the right was joy to watch. He used his pace so well and always beat his man and got his crosses Into the box. The first goal came because he beat his man out wide ran into the box and laid It on a plate for Desane. I never had the feeling at this game that at one nil we had anything to fear and the second goal was always on the cards. Great to see Woods cap Of a fine display with a headed goal and you could see, he really enjoyed scoring the goal. I have heard people say Sills Is lazy, well I watched him today and the guy worked his socks Off. He never stopped running and closing people down, not one Of our players gave anything less than 100% out on the pitch today. Carayol fully deserved his man Of the match award and apart from getting Todd Or Robertson back into the squad, Its hard to see how the team out there today could be changed, as apart from the defense, this really looks our best line up. Last week late due to the car service and wheel balance problems, today It had new cam belts fitted, so unable to have anything to eat before I left, I decided to try these expensive pies Well at £2,50, I will say It was the best pie I have had In ages and I just think It may become a regular habit.
