Well here we go back to league action and another home Saturday game, the forth on the trot. It was clear some fans have chosen to pick what games to go to this month, as the gate was so low against Bath, I think we can expect a much better gate for this game. I still fell it will just make the 2000 mark.
Its very near Christmas, some will be out shopping, others just trying to save some money, that is why I feel we can't expect a large gate.
On to the game, I know I have talked about Ellis on another thread, but as I think Hodges won't get dropped, I would like to see him move out to left back, this will give Nico a break and the chance to start Ellis along side Woods, if Woods is fit.
Well worth starting Green with Sills again, but I would drop Dsane, I know he scored a good goal and came more alive when he went up front when Stevens came on, I just don't think he gives another over the whole game.
A game we need to win, so as not to drop any further behind the leaders, one I feel we can win and make our Christmas day even better.

Some will also be away on Holiday I have to disagree with Green starting up front with Sills, I would go back to Benyon (providing he has recovered from his injury) and Sills. I do agree with dropping Dsane and would go with Carayol. Those are the only 2 changes i would like to see. Agree, this is a MUST win game, a proverbial six-pointer, a loss would see Histon 8 points and 1 game clear of us. However, a win will see them just 2 points ahead with a game in hand. A game I think we can win, especially if we play the way we did against Cambridge in the second half. Lots of match reports would be good.

tufc01 I went with Green because I did not expect Benyon to have recovered, even if he did he would not have trained much before the game, so I would expect him to be on the bench.
I still believe Green has a lot to offer our team, but he needs more than one game at a time, lets give him a decent run and chance to show why Oxford were not happy that he signed for us.

Some will also be on a pre-Xmas holiday to make up for having to work Xmas Eve and Boxing Day I'll be sat in the stand with my old man after his recent return to Plainmoor following six months away with his bad (now operated on and recovering) hip.

I expect Bucks to select a "horses for courses" starting line up and therefore would expect to see at least one of our tall young centre halves used to counter Histon's "play for re-starts" longball policy. So maybe Robertson alongside Woods (if he is fit) and Hodges being moved to left of midfield. Strength over guile up front, so Green over Benyon AND NO STEVENS!Chances against Histon may well be at a premium, so Nicholson's deadball deliveries are an option we cannot afford to be without............especially as they have to replace BOTH of their centrebacks who are out suspended. "Must win" situation?..............may be not this early in the campaign (this is exactly halfway) but a lot nearer must NOT lose! I anticipate some good news on the goalkeeping front by the time kick off time arrives too.

A big match this Saturday and hopefully one we can win to keep in the title mix! That point away from home now looks like a good result compared to the disappointment felt at the time. Lots of competition for places and would certainly agree with Merse that Robertson or Ellis should come in to counter the aerial challenge. Not so sure about Hodges on the left wing - looked pedestrian there when he came on against Oxford in the league match. Maybe keep him somewhere in defence for his distribution qualities. Other selection dilemmas are Dsane / Carayol at left wing, and Benyon / Green up front with Sills. Probably comes down to "horses for courses" as to who starts with a possible appearance from the subs bench for the others. Always like a speed merchant to come on for the last twenty or so minutes personally. I am assuming that we won't revert to the 4-4-1-1 formation, particularly with those defenders out, but could be a useful tactic to protect a lead later on. A home win would be the perfect Chrismas present

I would go for:- United: Bevan; Mansell, Woods, Hodges, Nicholson, Carlisle, Hargreaves (c), Wroe, Dsane, Sills, Benyon. Subs: Robertson, Thompson, Carayol, Stevens, Green. 4-4-2. Score 3-1 Gulls Sills x2 Hargreaves x1. Crowd 2243. MOM Carlisle.

Looks like Benyon will be fit for the game, providing he does not have any reactions in training, while I still feel that Green should start and be given a few more games to give his partnership with Sills more time, I do feel that Bucks may well start Benyon.
Benyon has scored eight goals in eight starts for us this season, five in his last four games and its that record over Greens that may be the deciding factor. I know its to early to be a must win game, but still feel a winning result will be important going into our Xmas programme.

Having what seems to be the regular problem getting the commo link via the Beeb, so I'm anticipating another afternoon of missing all or most of the first half, frustration and anger!!!!

Dsane - 7mins! I called Capitagull at the game who sits just in front of the Beeb to ask him to inform the supercilious twats that yet again their two tins and a piece of string technology is broken and they're yet again talking to themselves....................trouble is,Chas is too polite to do it and the Beeb just don't bloody care anyway! 2-0 now Roscoe again (22min) and Histon are silly enough to be playing with an injured keeper who has restricted movement! ;D
