After two hard battles on our last two games and both away we came away with all six points on offer. We now need to build on those results and make sure we win our game against Rushden.
On paper their away form is very poor and our team must not take the view it is going to be an easy game and the points are as good as in the bag. Rushdon will come here and be looking to get something from the game, so the boys must look at this as being another cup final game.
With Dsane out, surely it is now the time to give Carlisle a full game on the left side, as so many believe that is his best position and one he did so much damage to us from. Likewise many feel that the right side is Carayol's best position and he just needs to work on getting better balls into the box.
The poll on should Benyon start, or come as a sub shows 63% feel its best not to start him but bring him on later during the game. Green is not a left winger and should be played in the middle, I do keep on about this, but only when he is played there on a regular basis, will we see the real Matt Green.
So I hope Green starts upfront, I think we all know Sills will start and If Sills has to keep going back to defend corners etc, we need to keep Green up on the halfway line. Robertson should keep his place in the team, but if Hodges has recovered from his kick, I can see Bucks putting him back in next to Woods.
This is a game that is there to win and that would help to start making that place off place ours to keep.

We are on a hat-trick against Rushden having edged a close encounter 1-0 in the very cold depths of January. We were not at our best that day possibly due to not having Sills and maybe after just beating Blackpool in the FA cup, not "up for it" as much as we should have been. I seem to recall that they are a half decent side but with little bite up front. If we play 4-4-2, would like to see the team that Dave R suggested play. There is also the option of playing 4-3-3 with Thompson playing in the centre although this would mean that all our fit strikers would start. Certainly a game that we should look to win particularly with many of the top teams playing each other this weekend.  |

Would be great To see Carlisle on the LEFT wing and Carayol keep his position on the right. Benyon to start.......that argument could go on for a while! Would like to see Green up front with Benyon as you say Dave, but Buckle will never drop Sills! Robertson has to keep his place, I don't understand Buckle putting the older guys back there when he has two younger ones of equal skills!

Well Buckle's preview comments suggest Woodsie is "struggling" and unlike others on here, he believes Green is doing a good job on the left. I can't understand the suggestion of dropping our top scorer and, at times, best defender, myself. Robertson and Hodges to start and Green to start on the left from what I have read. But I was one of those voting for Benyon on the bench and would agree with Dave, rjd and weathergull and hope we get Sills and Green, with Carlisle on the left. If the front two pairing isn't working, well we all know the very competent option Bucks can fall back on for the second half. Nearly forgot. A 3-0 mauling, Sills, Benyon and Hodges. We flippin murdered them at their place. Albeit with changed personnel for them. We are on a roll, all fired up and Edinburgh's a . . . .  |

Rob. Green has played two games out on the left and I have not heard one person who felt he played well out there, or if it was a position he could play.I really can't see what Bucks is seeing that we all seem to be missing, answers on a postcard please.

I thought Green did okay at Kettering and was decent enough at Grays the other night. He didn't play very well at Oxford and I wasn't at the FGR game but by all accounts he played alright. Having said all this, I'd like to see him start up top. Thompson certainly did enough on Tuesday night to warrant a start on Saturday. I'd go with a 4-3-3 like this: Bevan
Mansell - Robertson - Woods - Nicholson
Wroe - Hargreaves - Thompson
Carlisle - Sills - Green But it will be this: Bevan
Mansell - Robertson - Woods - Nicholson
Carlisle - Wroe - Hargreaves - Green

Its a dry morning here in the Bay, the sky looks a bit overcast, but the sun may well make an appearance some time today. A much better day than it was on Thursday, there I was stuck in deep snow in Dorset and having problems getting anywhere. Weymouth and Dorchester were really bad and I got half way between Dorchester and Yeovil, only to find all the cars were being stopped and told to go on a bit further to a turning circle that had just been cleared in the deep snow. Turn around and head back to Dorchester the policeman said, but I had work to do and when I got to the turning circle I just carried on to Yeovil. Lorries littered everywhere and I had to pick a path through them all, it took time but I got to Yeovil. Then up to Weston Super Mare and not a single snowflake anywhere, just bright sunshine, it really did feel like being in another country So conditions should be just fine for the match and one would hope with us winning our last two games, we will see a better gate today. I feel good that we will win the game and make it three wins out of three. We do really need to take all the points that look on offer this month as we do still have a few tougher games to come before the end of the season. |

DGEP - I agree with you totally. Would like to see the first formation but I'm pretty confident Buckle will go with the second option.
These are the games we need to be winning in March if we are serious about the play-offs. Our run in isn't straightforward and therefore we need to get as many points on the board now as we can.

Nice to hear Carayol can cross a ball at least when it's not moving!
I'm feeling very lonely here. Is everyone at the match? Maybe I'll win the lottery and take the family back home (mine not theirs) and I wouldn't have to listen.

From listening to the, albeit limited commentary, a draw sounded not too unfair.
Glad to hear we pressed for the winner with Robertson staying up top for periods.
Makes me wonder why he has had so few starts.

3/4 pace first half, and about half pace second half. A massive lack of fight, effort and passion. Lack luster at best with little bursts of sod all really. Tim took his goal well and Elliot worked hard, Muzzy was o.k. Robbo fought hard, Greeno ran well, but no-one really showed what it was about on Tuesday or when we beat Oxford. Where did the fight go?  Oh yeah I almost, forgot or tried too, they could have easily robbed us at the end, BEVON is awesome! The Bevonator rocks! |

That's also football, turn up for the one game and a few days later take on off-day for the next game. Just not good enough for an automatic promotion spot, but we already knew that for a while.
Our poor home form continues but luckily some results went for us so all in all not so bad. Seven points from the last three games isn't that bad.
Altrincham provide the next firm test, they won't surrender without a (proper) fight.

The performance wasn't quite there and not helped losing Sills with all those corners and goal mouth throw ins in the last quarter. Would have been nice to have brought on Benyon at that stage. Danny played well but thought our options were limited in respect of the bench.
Early in the second half there was a great move that put Benyon clear but flagged off-side. Would like some half way liners opinions of that decision as looked fine from the family stand.!!!

I always feel a tad disappointed not to win a home league game - especially when we have taken the lead, but there were quite a few positives to take out of the game today and looking at the bigger picture, we have taken 7 out of the last 9 points.
Carayol put-in another improved perfomance today, plenty of tracking-back and covering Mansell. It was also a very disciplined performance from Muzzy in terms of staying involved and working to make the openings.
For me he was MOTM at times and I believe that he will continue to improve - some of his ball skills mezmerised their defenders and at times they had to "double up" on him in the manner that teams often did on Zebroski last season.
It pisses me off a treat to hear some of the idiots around me critisise him - "beat the first bleddy man" or "take 'im on for gaaads sake" are two of the little pearls that wind me up. he's a young player with bags of talent but is still very much learning his trade. Ho hum.
Our goal came from a real moment of quality - Woods put a very strong ball down the left, ahead of Green who killed some of the pace and brought it under control with a stretching foot - it required excellent application of technique to do that and Green was not found wanting. Green then won the corner and Caryol's cross met the head of Sills and there was only going to be one outcome.
I felt that from then we would go-on to take the three points when the game settled-down after we took the lead, but Rushden certainly played the game "the right way" and worked to create some half-chances. I liked the look of Tomlin and a few of their players, they didn't "park the bus" at any point and gave it a go.
It was disappointing that Tomlin managed to get a sight of goal from a dead-end position and slam the ball home for their equaliser in the second half. By that time we had lost a lot of the direction, shape and drive that I felt we had in the first half in patches.
Judging from Rob's comment, even listening from the radio it must have been clear how much we missed Sills when he went-off injured. It looked like a thigh injury, but could have been a hamstring - either way I can't see him being back for the next couple of games at best.
Perhaps that means that we will looked to recall Todd from Salisbury - despite us having plenty of corners and crosses there was a lack of presence with the absence of Sills. Robertson did present a threat towards the end of the game, but Todd has the knack of being in the right place and is more than capable of causing opponents problems in their area as well as ours.
Still, Wrexham and Oxford failed to win, we have two games coming-up and still a good platform to kick-on from
A word regarding the officials - I couldn't believe it when Benyon was through and the lino flagged - but I think that their mistakes were honest and i the heat of the game, it is hard to get them right every time. They were a huge improvement on the ones that we had against FGR, it's easy to pick faults in them, but I thought the ref did well.
One thing that I do find frustrating is the amount of holding in the box that goes-on without a penalty being awarded - not just today but every week. There is no way that would be allowed outside the area, but in the box the officials never seem to give them.
