So we are nearly there with the first pre-season friendly on Saturday at Tiverton, followed by a good few more within close range of the Bay.
I'll be making my pre-season debut at Newton Abbot next Tuesday while I take advantage of being down in Devon for the summer - anyone else making some pre-season trips just to see some football even though it's tough to gauge anything serious from them.

Well if all goes to plan I hope to go to Tiverton, but will be at Newton for sure Andy, so you will have to look out for me.

And I know what you look like, as long as you take Ryan Babel with you!

Pre season has never cut it for me...............not when I played, nor reffed; and certainly not now. It has to be endured as far as I'm concerned because when I played I could never play properly unless there was a " result" required, when I reffed I didn't like the extra "pressure"of there being "no pressure" if that makes sense; and as for watching them...........zzzzzzzz! I'm off to Chester's two day July Meeting tomorrow morning with the missus - the Friday night's a low grade affair but always atmospheric, and the Saturday really top stuff and been a sell out for months as usual which means over 30,000 packed into the Roodee. Two nights in North Wales which means dinner at The Boot in Northop (are you missing it Charlie?) and Bijou will go ballistic but I'm calling in at the Worcs v Staffs development xls at Halesowen CC on the way home on Sunday to watch my friend's son open the bowling for Worcs..............Let's hope for her sake that Staffs bat first!

I hope you are taking a laptop Merse What's a laptop? Oh, do you mean one of those females you offer a seat to on the Tube when it's crowded! You could let "someone" know this site will be a "Merse Free Zone" for a couple of days though, eh Dave!

Looks like you over slept mate, there may be one the site wishes it was free from, but it would not wish to be Merse free for two long. Enjoy your weekend, drive safely and take care. Dave R

No friendlies for me. This season I will have to pick and choose my games carefully due to severe cash restraints.
So I will have to wait for the real stuff to start.

Have to disagree with you Merse about pre season games. Firstly they can often be competitive as new players will want to show, not only what they have got, but will be looking to impress, to try and get a starting place.
It will also be important for the team, to try and put in practice the style the manager has chosen to play with and those going may get an idea, just what we may expect this season.
Its also good to see the new players and get used to what they look like in a Torquay shirt. I remember one season, when I had to miss some of the first games, when we had 5 or 6 new players who had joined the squad. When I did get to my first game, it was not to easy to work out who was who.

I'm with you on this Dave - I don't pay any attention to the result of any of these games, but I like to see a positive performance and like you said it's good to see the new players in action. Looking forward to Newton Abbot on Tuesday and Brizzle Rovers next Saturday....first use of my shiny new season ticket!
