As many of you know, on match days at Wembley there is a parking restriction zone that extends about a mile and a half away from the stadium, whereby all normal restrictions are countermanded/suspended and a blanket ban (excluding residents) is put in force. One of the closest places you will be able to park for nothing is around 2 miles from the Green Man Hotel (postcode HA9 8DF Tel. 020 8903 1441), back down the Ealing Road in Alperton or Perivale. I'd recommend parking in either 1. Alperton Lane (B456), or 2. Bilton Road, Perivale: 1. If you park in Alperton Lane, you need then to walk along to the Ealing road and catch the No. 83 bus (every 12 mins on Sunday afternoons) up to Wembley. 2. If you park on Bilton Road, you need to catch the No. 297 (also every 12 mins on Sunday afternoons) which goes along this road. Should you wish to avail yourselves of either of these, and are traveling up along the M4, then you should travel along the M4 to J4a; turn left onto M25 for 1 junction then turn right at J16 (signposted M40/A40 Central London) and go to end of M40 which continues towards London as A40. Continue for about 8 miles towards the infamous Hanger Lane gyratory system (think Penn Inn x 4 with aggressive London drivers), but turn off left before you get to it, onto Alperton Lane (B456), not long after the Hoover building (now a Tesco's). This goes immediately under a railway bridge before you pass the ‘Goals’ Astroturf soccer pitches on your left. Start thinking about parking up, towards the end of this road. Walk to the end to catch the bus (turn left along Ealing Rd). If you'd rather catch the 297, then immediately BEFORE 'Goals', turn left up Manor Farm Road and at the far end (near a major Sainsburys) turn left at the mini roundabout onto Bilton Road, and try to park. If you do this, you then need to cross over the road to catch the 297 back in the direction of the mini roundabout. Relevant Transport for London bus map is here: www.tfl.gov.uk/tfl/gettingaround/maps/buses/pdf/wembleypark-2293.pdfTimetables: 83 www.londonbusroutes.net/times/083full.pdf297 www.londonbusroutes.net/times/297.htmIf you catch the 297 is you'd need to get off on Park Drive at the junction of Dagmar Avenue and then walk up Dagmar Ave to the crest of the hill where you'll find the Green Man Hotel on the left and hundreds of TUFC fans awaiting your entrance. If you catch the 83, you need to get ff very close to the Stadium on Wembley Hill Road at the bottom of Dagmar Avenue at the other end - go to crest of hill and its on the right. I trust this helps and saves you money. PS Don't forget change for the bus - I believe it’s a flat rate £2.00 each way per adult journey on either bus for a journey scheduled to be about 30 mins.

Many thanks for your very useful information ealinggull. Below are two maps showing both streets and how to get to Wembley from them.

I'd say to anyone contemplating taking a car to Wembley take notice of the draconian CPZ regulations. CPZ stands for Controlled Parking Zone and it is the system put in place by TFL (Transport For London) around all major crowd pulling attractions of which football stadiums are a big part......................they ALL have CPZs which come into force on designated event days and are identified by on street notifications but as a general rule there is a 2k exclusion zone around the event with a £120 fine (reduced to £60 if paid within 21 days) or even vehicle removal to a pound (which will incur costs in excess of £200) for contravention. The parking enforcement agencies will be out in huge numbers collecting as much revenue for the cash cow on behalf of TFL as they can and they'll be looking for YOU!This has spawned a "cottage industry" within those zones of "private car parks" whereby schools and works are letting you park for the princely sums of between £15 and £25...................more ripping off, more added cost and misery to YOU the customer! Be warned and keep your car well away from Wembley!

One other alternative is carrying on to hanger lane and taking the 2 nd exit and parking around westgate (always a winner for me when travelling to london) or taking the 3rd exit (north circular) and then a left and parking around the chinese supermarket and/ or travelodge . (always handy to know this area in case you you get towed because the ealing car pound is just down from the road!)
I tend to park here when going into london (unless I use a neat little area near merse's place he showed me a few years ago!)
Merse (or others) Are the areas I have just described within the CPZ?

Are the areas I have just described within the CPZ? I'm not sure, but the CPZ system was in operation last season so if it was OK then it should be this. However, you can refer to the TFL's own site on tfl.gov/cpz and Wembley's own site for confirmation I would think.

Mines a pint though if you do use this one and get free parking relatively close by. If anyone wants exact details just pm me.

Jamie The areas you suggest are both outside the Wembley Event CPZ ad thus OK to park - see map via link below: www.brent.gov.uk/transportation.nsf/Files/LBBA-45/$FILE/Event%20day%20parking%20zone%20map.pdfHowever, you still need to get to Wembley from there. Westgate is a few roads south of Alperton Lane which I suggected - but you may have to queue to get off the A40 up/around the gyratory system - Alperton Lane avoids this. Parking along the North Circular would probably mean walking along to Stonebridge Park (where the CPZ starts) and then catching a bus/walking up into Wembley along the Harrow Road (and turning right at The Greyhound and over the White Horse bridge to the stadium). Good luck all!

I did the 83 bus route a couple of years ago for the Rugby League Challenge Cup Final and it took over an hour and a half there and back. I'm pretty sure its not normally that bad but Alperton and Wembley high streets can get very busy and the much vaunted but crap public transport system with its over reliance on buses can be a bit on the slow side. Even though I'm only 4 miles away I will probably go into London and back out to the stadium on the Jubilee Line. People can even park on my road and get the 83 around the corner if they like. If you are taking the bus you can buy a day pass which works out cheaper than two returns. There are ticket machines at most bigger bus stops. The other alternative is to park at IKEA and dump 'er indoors in there for the afternoon. A woman can get lost for hours in there. Please ignore Ealinggull's description of the Hanger Lane Gyratory. Not all of us negociate it giving it plenty of foot with our eyes closed.

As for getting to Ws from there I would walk up to stonebridge park where it is just one stop (or even walk!) Like you said. You know the area much better than me so alperton would be where I would head for Thanks for taking the time to post your info including buses and the like, much apppreciated .

Not all of us negociate it giving it plenty of foot with our eyes closed. .....................except the Jubilee will not be available next Sunday due to engineering works (is that Underground Ernie having a hernia again?) so you will be back on the bloody (replacement) buses again my friend. Far better to use the Metropolitan Line from Baker Street with all the Cambridge hordes! just a twelve minute ride unless someone pulls the communication alarm! IKEA's a good shout, their meatballs after a smoked salmon starter with mineral water are a fine pre-match lunch and you could always go for a lie down in the bedding dept before kick off! If you're missus is Indian she'll probably want to take the entire family including grand parents, nephews nieces and cousins like they all seem to do at the Neasden store We've always preferred the one at Northumberland Park for that reason at least you can get to see the stock there. It's the feckers who drive around Hangar Lane like Ilych who are the ruddy problem, not the road. If you care to give us a call Chris there's a cracking little Greasy Spoon the aged fraternity of the CGs will be rendezvousing in on the morning of the match..................to give you a clue to it's whereabouts it's in a street adjacent to a major London Rail termini that sounds like it could be in Texas (no not another DIY store) and is one of only two establishments in that street that's not either a red light, porn, sex change or lap dancing venue; so there's every chance that one or two of the Toms will be sat in there in sequins and little else. *When I was doing a recce on Friday to make sure who was opening on a Sunday morning, at the first caff I checked the owner all but threw me out accusing me of "working for the council" A "Full Monty" at 10 am should prevent you wasting any money on Wembley's rip off "food" outlets and if you need a top up; the barbecue at the Green Man was great value last season. * The last time I was in one of those with Anthony he said to me: "Dad, do you think that lady should be in here topless?" ~ 'Why not son?' ~ "'cos she's been and got Daddies Brown Sauce on one nipple and Ketchup on the other"................'I'll have the Daddies then son'

IKEA's car park will be closed/locked (as will tesco's next door) by the time we have enjoyed watching Mr Hargreave's lift the trophy ....
