Just over a century since we last played this team and would have liked to have travelled up today but unfortunately that hasn’t worked out. With so many injuries hard to know what squad what team will start today but at least we have Jenkins Davies back in the side. Fingers crossed nobody's car breaks down on the way to the ground today...  Edit: and I could facetious and suggest most of the bench aren't old enough to drive although I know that is not factually correct. |

So young Wellington gets a start as well as Thomas.
Wellington impressed me in the Youth Cup game with Falmouth, but this is a big step up in class.
I guess that Jenkins Davies not starting suggests he is not yet match fit. Hope he gets 30 minutes under his belt today.
Is Marshall really playing centre-forward?
Is it 4-4-2 with Collins wide right or a 4-3-3 with Collins as a central midfielder and Williams wider right?
2-0 up at half time, no injuries yet!
Let’s hope it stays that way. We don’t want to end up with too many kids on the pitch - would not be fair on them.
Would be nice to get a third like we did in 1921 and in 1967.

Commentator suggests Collins in a midfield three but Marshall out on the right and Williams through the centre rather than vice versa. Even more surprising.

Job done.
A few players rested (at least I hope Moxey was rested and isn’t crocked), no new injuries, some pitch time for Jenkins Davies, and a confidence boosting win.
I am ambivalent on the Trophy. In a way, we could do without the extra fixtures BUT winning is a habit and confidence is so important.
In two minds over three more debutants to add to Thomas on Tuesday.
Pleased for the young lads but let’s not kid ourselves this proves we have an academy churning out National League standard players. A few minutes against Frome does not a professional footballer make.

Is it correct the average age of that team put out today against Frome was aged 20. Surely the youngest team put out by a professional Torquay United team in a main competition.

I am not sure the FA Trophy qualifies as a " main competition".However...good to see young players being given game time. The club needs to do a much better job of attracting and developing young talent.
