The previous fixture against Aldershot was undoubtedly our best performance of the season and was the perfect springboard going into the FA Cup against Derby. Back then we had new players coming in and the manager had started to sort out our poor start to the season. It seems Aldershot are not on a great run of form either but there is a big question mark around Moxey and Lapslie who went off injured on Tuesday. De Silva has returned to his parent club and surely we need more players? Torquay United match preview

I have said before we need at least two out of Moxey, Lapslie and Hall fit to be competitive.
A horrible possibility we may be missing all three today. Oh dear.
Possibly down to thirteen fit outfielders with donkeys in the majority.
Marshall Wyatt, Hanson and McGavin to start with Crowe, Mensah and Omar on a four man bench? Or push Donnellan in to midfield and play Crowe or Mensah at right back. Or three at the back with Marshall amd Omar either side of Lawrence?
Four on the bench or numbers made up by an unfit Martin or an unfit Hall? Maybe Hall could limp on for the last five minutes, not to actually play but just to forcibly remind everybody not to do anything f***ing stupid?
None of the above sound acceptable, so let's pray that Lapslie and Moxey are both fit and that we have a new signing or two.
Logically we have no chance, but stuff logic. I sense a win today followed by another on Tuesday to pull us out of the drop zone.
Come on you Yellows!!

New midfielder Kevin Dawson on the bench along with Omar and Mensa 🙏 That was a quick answer to my prayers. No Moxey but Lapslie starts. New signing from Gloucester City. Has not featured for them since August. Not match-fit I expect.

Has not featured for them since August. Not match-fit I expect. Not sure why he is not back playing for City after injury as he's definitely good at that level. Possibly because he's on a big contract and they don't want to pay his appearance money. Well known to GJ and can be inspirational on his day.... and looking for a shop window. Hope his enthusiasm doesn't lead to a rash challenge and a red card.

Another atrocious early opening headed goal conceded that put us on the back foot. However we got back early with a well worked MacGavin strike shortly after. Aldershot are dire we have created and missed some very good opportunities and have easily been the better side though it looks pretty low standard even for this division. Having dominated and not scored its highly likely we will concede another soft goal or two when the shots suddenly wake up.

Three points there for the taking says Gritts.
Or is it one point there to be thrown away?

If only we had a card or two to play from the bench.
Most games are there for the taking with fifteen minutes to go.
Fresh attacking legs are what turn draws into wins.
We have not got any and have not had all season.

Lapslie has run his race.
Dawson on.
Can he manage fifteen minutes - not having kicked a ball in anger for over six months?

Potential match winner Hanson on for tiring McGavin.
Mensah or Omar next?

Really like Gritts. An intelligent bloke who knows his football and tells it as it is.
You could hear the frustration in his voice.
Aldershot dreadful, but they are just about safe. We should be too.
One point better than none but we are desperate for a win after those three stupid defeats.
One point closed on Yeovil and Gateshead, but could have been three.
Amazing we are still not dead and buried, but how many more gift horses can we look in the mouth?
