I quite like the FA Cup as a competition and I’m looking forward to going despite the club not enjoying too much success in this since the Buckle era. No guarantees but you would at least hope we have a half decent chance of progressing at home against a team in the league below us. Not sure if anyone is cup tied or have been prevented from playing to avoid them becoming such. TUFC match preview

So yet another chance for FA Cup glory, to emulate the glory of…we’ll, some other teams.
Just a couple of hurdles to cross first: we have to beat a team in a lower league (guffaw guffaw, as if we could possibly lose) and we have to figure out which of our defenders is likely to score…I’m going for Moxey!
No doubt at 16.45 (or 17.23 with normal injury time) we will look back with a smile (and forward with trepidation) and think…how did that happen? 🤔

🔝 I think the two above posters have confused the word nice with the word miracle? 🔝

Got my ticket and looking forward ( ) to this. I suspect the club will really now really start to reap the consequences of their ridiculous policy of making it difficult for fans to attend matches. I am sure they will lose many season ticket holders today who would have paid on the gate in addition to the casual supporters they have already lost. Every week we wonder if we can scrape together 16 semi-fit players. With seven subs allowed, we now wonder whether we can scrape together 18 semi-fit players. We know we won't see any of our young loaned out players return as all four are cup-tied. Will all of our four loaned in players be allowed to play? I do hope so. Will they be joined by another late arrival? Two new loanees last week but shockingly neither was a striker. We continue to have no attacking options on the bench and hope that Goodwin and Jarvis can both play ninety minutes as we have no fresh legs to replace them with Andrews and Evans out long-term. Yet as soon as Marshall is injured, we bring in a replacement even though we had three players comfortable at centre back sat on the bench watching his debut. Nothing against Okoli, but surely the need for a striker was more urgent. Our previous loan in was a central midfielder even though we have central midfielders coming out of ears. Martin, Marshall, Evans and Andrews all out. What about Moxey, Hall, Lapslie, Donnellan, Crowe, Hanson? Who knows. I'll go for a resounding win anyway - the first step on the road to Wembley. Bit worried that the Cup Final is not until June 3, so our brave boys will have a five week gap after our last league match before the final. Maybe we should try getting to the Trophy Final too, to give us a warm up game to bridge the gap?

No mistake on my part though I can't speak for stig123. Although both 'nice' and 'miracle' derive from Latin and French, nice is an adjective while miracle is a noun. When I said it would be nice to reach the first round, I actually meant it would be nice to reach the first round.
Whilst on current form it is likely a miracle would be required for that to happen, that is a whole different debate and as far as I am concerned it would still be nice! 😉⚽️

Thank you for picking up on the word "nice". My English teacher at Churston Ferrers told me never to use the word " nice" as it was meaningless. I therefore sub in the word " pleasurable". Just trying to make the point....it's been a while since we had a cup run. Having supported United for over 50 years.. think it's pretty much a given that I believe in miracles.

Once wiki got into determiners, postpositive, attributive, and predicative, I thought it would be safer to come back here!

Do we have 18 semi-fit players? No. 16? No.
We have just four on the bench - two big centre halves, one keeper and one winger. Our opponents have a full 7.
Humiliating or what?
Hall and Lapslie both start in midfield. Will be a miracle if they both last ninety minutes. No signs of Smith - presumably permission to cup-tie denied.
Omar left out, guess Donnellan will play in a back three. No width at all if we don't go back three, but back to Crowe and Wyatt as wing backs.
It is getting very hard to be optimistic.
