I think an underperforming Dagenham were the only team last year that did the double over us so revenge is best served on a cold dish and all that. The match at Plainmoor was particularly galling as I think they scored from just about their only chance of the game early on and then we had waves of attacks where we just could not find the back of the net. However, looking at our lineup, particularly the defence and you can perhaps see why we were vulnerable – link The ball is on the other foot this season with Dagenham well ahead of us in fifth place although on the same points as seventh placed Bromley which is one of the teams we would need to chase down to get into the playoffs with eight points to make up between now and the end of the season. We are both on a good run of form with 12 points in the last six games, 4 out of five wins in our case and Dagenham winning the last four although with two against Dover and one against Aldershot town with the only decent win being against Grimsby who themselves have floundered recently with just 1 win from the last six. We’re going to this game without our three loan signings who have now gone back to their clubs and were a big part in turning around our season but of course none of them actually started last Sunday. We welcome Stephen Wearne to the club for the rest of the season and my initial gut feeling is he will take on more of a Sparkes wide role but we will see…. TUFC match preview Gaffer preview

Pretty awful weather out there at the moment. Giving way to showers shortly but going to be another battle today in wet and windy conditions. COYY!

If we genuinely have the credentials and ambition to move up into a play off spot then we need to win these type of games. I'm content that we have at least pulled away from the danger area and moving in the right direction but more squad upheaval makes me think it will be difficult for us to duplicate our first half of last season form which is what we will have replicate. We can at least play without that awful pressure that comes when your in danger in the bottom third of the table and would like to think that could work in our favour. D&G one of our boggy teams we never seem to get the better of are in good form and have a capable young manager with a potent front line we will have to be wary of. A difficult game as they all are.

Has Sparkes definitely gone back? Earlier in the week there was talk he might be available if he returned negative covid tests.

Has Sparkes definitely gone back? Earlier in the week there was talk he might be available if he returned negative covid tests. Loan ends tomorrow so could play today if self-isolation over. Like you, I hope Wearne can play one of the wide roles - where we are sorely lacking and will be even more so when Sparkes goes. I remember Sheaf was described as an attacking midfielder, was played wide right in a game, went into a strop, got subbed early and rarely played again after that. Hope for better from Wearne! Little should return for Felix and would be good to have Wearne and Sparkes (or maybe Moore in the unlikely event of him being fit) wide. If Lapslie fit, we have decide who to leave out - maybe we nurse him and Hall through half a game each. COYY!

link - Very interesting lineup, Wearne starts as expected but also O’Connell and Peritt come in. No sign of Little or Johnson, Covid isolation? Or something else? 3-4-3? Moore on bench….

No Little, Felix, Lapslie or Johnson. Surely most are victims of Covid. Gonna be a tough ask today with yet another untried line up.

I wonder if Perritt will slot straight in alongside Hall as a holding midfielder. O'Connell and Wearne wide in a 4-2-3-1?

With infection rates higher than ever, I am amazed we allow players to jump into the crowd and hug people. Rates were a lot lower when fans were told not to touch the match ball for fear of infection. If we get lots of players out of action, maybe it is self-inflicted damage.

Error by Torquay 2. - 1
Kick the ball out for a throw rather than give a feckin corner away 😡

Two teams attempting to play football in terrible conditions with the pitch cutting up badly.
We were brilliant for twenty minutes, deserved to be two up and could have been more.
After that, Dagenham got the upper hand and looked a very decent team.
We were probably lucky to come out with a point in the end. MacDonald made some very good saves and should have been man of the match.
I wonder how many of our team changes were last minute. Must be very difficult preparing a team for a match without really being sure who will be available.
