Full National League fixture list Tuesday. Nothing for us as we were due to play Macclesfield.
Away to Wrexham on Saturday. Wrexham may not quite be living up to the hype, but it would be an achievement to get something from that.
We currently have a blank the following Saturday as it is kept clear for the FA Cup.
We are due to play at Aldershot on Tuesday 23 November. As we are both out of the Cup, surely it would make sense to bring that fixture forward to Saturday 6 November. I suppose if we want to save an overnight stay, we might prefer a Tuesday evening.
Whether that match is moved or not, the next three games after Wrexham are Dover, Barnet and Aldershot. Three very poor teams. If we can put together some half-decent form, nine points should be there for the taking. If we did achieve that, scraping seventh place might start to look less of a pipe dream.

I see Wrexham lost 3-2 at Maidenhead and had a man sent off. They are also missing their star player and captain Luke Young.
Bit of pressure on them on Saturday now - let's hope that works to our advantage. A win would actually put us above them in the table!
It was tempting to write off our drubbing of Wealdstone due to the poor quality of the opposition - but I see they beat leaders Grimsby today.
In another unexpected result, Barnet won at Stockport despite 18 minutes of second half stoppage time.
Maybe the bad teams in this league aren't quite as bad as you think and the good teams aren't quite as good as you think.

Has anyone seen the you tube of Maidenhead v.Wrexham game. Mullins elbowing a black guy in the face and the referee sends of a black Wrexham guy for the offence. Has to be up there with one of the worst refereeing decisions I have ever seen in my 60 years of watching football. Mullins should not be playing Saturday.

It was a disgrace and incompetence of the highest order from the officials...and seemingly nobody in authority doing anything about it??!

Looks like the ref missed it - no whistle when it happened. He then twigged something must have happened from the reaction and let his brain fill in the incident his eyes had missed. There had been two pairs of players tussling with each other as the ball went over - Hosannah with the 17 and Mullin with the 21. Ref saw Hosannah jostling with a Maidenhead player, glanced away, heard the outcry, glanced back and saw Hosannah standing over an injured player. Bad refereeing. Justice would be served if Mullin served the suspension rather than Hosannah. That would probably benefit us too. But we should focus on playing our game and not get fixated on this as that would just be preparing an excuse for losing rather than focusing on winning.

I shall certainly keep telling myself that anyway... as we quietly stagger through this season... It is a two-edged sword. Makes defeat at Wrexham far from inevitable, but makes wins over Dover, Barnet and Aldershot far from inevitable. Nine points from those four fixtures would suit me fine.

He then twigged something must have happened from the reaction and let his brain fill in the incident his eyes had missed. Talking of refs reviewing the aftermath and guessing what caused it made me remember this one. A win in this game would really have opened up the relegation battle, but Newport legend-to-be Flynn (who has just quit as manager) outwitted young Shamir Goodwin to get us reduced to ten men rather than them. Would we have won the match with eleven men? Would that have made a difference if we had? Maybe, maybe not. There you go Chelston! 44 seconds in is the incident.

Well looks like the FA got out of gear and Mullins (whoever he may be! 😉) is suspended following a sending off during midweek which was a case of mistaken identity. Apparently he is quite good so may be positive for us, though the news all week has been setting Wrexham up nicely for a fall! 😉⚽️

Stockport looked unbelievably good in their 5-3 win over Bolton in the FA Cup last night. I see we host them on December 11th.We will need to be on top form to get anything out of the game.

Not that they’ll be that bothered, because both themselves and Plymouth are flying in their perspective leagues. life can be most cruel and unfair…wait a minute! 🤨

Have to agree there. Hard to believe Barnet won at their place recently. They will be up there if they can continue with that form. Demonstrates how the standard in this league has improved immensely over the last few seasons but also how our quality has dropped off. You can see why we're mid table and struggling compared to the first half of last season. Great cup game though and bolton played their part but had no answer in the end.

It's a funny old game. Stockport beat Bolton and lose to Barnet. Bit like us...we often look more likely to do well against the top sides rather than bottom of the league.
