link - pre match press call. Last week we played Altrincham after a two game gap and again this week it is Notts after the same gap. It was a great day at Plainmoor after our semi final win but together with the Cameron and Nemane moves this will add some needle into this early fixture. Unlike us, Notts got off to a great start with five second half goals last week, helped by a sending off after two goals but Rodrigues was the man who got the first two goals and after scoring a bullet header in the play offs at Plainmoor will be a threat. You always worry whether our ex players will score but I see Nemane only came on as an 88th minute substitute. Some may argue that will be plenty of time if he gets a similar run out! It was a very disappointing opener at Plainmoor last Saturday where two opening goals completely derailed us. Thought there were glimpses of some good individual performances in there but not enough for the team to click. Not sure if Johnson will move Moxey to the left of a back three to match county maybe allowing Hall to return in the middle and if CLE is fit then all the better. Will be strange not watching a Torquay game, last time that happened was March 2020!

Not sure I should comment as I'm feeling pretty negative regarding this fixture which promises to be a tough and telling encounter.
Notts county are without doubt one of the favorites to top the league with big money and crowds behind them. With the addition of some quality players, Cameron being one that sparked a mini exodus from ourselves. Not sure they will have it all their own way as there are always teams who unexpectedly seem to rise from the ashes and find a formula to be challengers. Who if anyone fancied Sutton last season? I can't say I fancy us at all after witnessing last weeks debacle against average opposition but hope to be surprised after a hurried squad rebuild in a small window of oportunity. With Agent Cam also playing a part in the Nemane move and I sensed GJ in interview when pushed on the subject of coming up against KC he was not a happy bunny and sounded like he felt pissed though did all he could to hide his frustrations. I'll be amazed if we get anything from the game Notts impressed me in the semi final at Plainmoor and have strengthened with players of proven quality while we now have a young inexperienced side still learning the game but would like to think CLE and Hall will feature from the off. Concerned by our weaknesses in defence, blunt attack and small midfield if not.
I believe GJ has a big job o his hands for us to be competitive but as always we have to wait and see so better judgement can be made in a month or two's time.

Feels weird not being allowed to watch this one.
I must resist the temptation to listen on the radio as the lack of actual match commentary always irritates the **** out of me. Far better off enjoying the sunshine and finding out the result later. I am far too logical to waste my time doing something that just irritates me..... or am I?
Last week looked like we were playing a pre-season friendly while Altrincham were playing a league match.
Perhaps a big match at Notts County is just what we need to make sure we are “at it”. If we are “at it”, we are perfectly capable of getting a result. If not we are at risk of a thrashing.
Saw quite a bit of Notts last season and their formation looks ropey if you get in behind their wing backs. Shame we have no pace to exploit that.
We could match them up for shape by playing Martin at wing back and Moxey as a third centre back. Lemon (if fit) behind the front two.
I would definitely want to play Hall and Lapslie. No room for Little in my team but expect he will play. He does work hard and he has ability but his decision making is poor and he costs us more goals through giving away possession and stupid free kicks than he creates. That make him a net liability in my opinion.
I would rather not have a back 3, but would get the much needed third centre midfielder by sacrificing Holman and playing Lemon deep. Would keep two wide and Wright on his own through the middle.
A win would be nice.

One change johnson in for Rogers hall and cle on bench obviously still not fit and persisting with little as captain. Be very surprised if we vet anything from this game with that line up

1-1. Excellent point, having played three quarters of the game with ten men. Interested to hear about the Omar red card.

I half-buckled in the end. First half down Meadfoot, second half in the garden with Radio Devon commentary on earphones. Better commentary than I expected. Actually gave some idea what was happening.
A good point given the sending off. Would have been interesting to see what would have happened it it was 11 v 11. Shows we are determined and disciplined. Don’t think we have the spark to challenge for the title, but playoffs not impossible.
I always though Moxey would be better at left centre-back with Martin outside him. Omar may regret that red card if it loses him his starting place after his suspension.
Hope we have left enough in the tank for Monday. We really need three points against Woking. Hope Hall and Lemonheigh-Evans fit to start and Holman raring to go.

Like Jon, been out enjoying the sunshine, in my case near the Avon Dam area on Dartmoor today. Got back to listen to a tense last 10 minutes on the radio. Cracking point considering the circumstances and maybe something that will kick start our season.

Apart from the match, disappointed to see Cameron and Nemane with whom he has worked with, play against us when they could have gone to a higher level.

A massive bonus point today and a brave effort by the sound of it sound of it and a real confidence boost to the squad. Sounded like a harsh sending off Omar strikes me as an honest type so hope hes not affected by any needless negativity. Still need some players back to start and hoping we haven't picked up any niggles for Monday, another big game against our old adversaries.
