Will take that. Stick or twist in the second half? Stick. When they gifted us those two early on I started dreaming of boosting our goal difference, but making sure of three points is what really matters. Disappointed Hall had to stay on for ninety minutes. Not sure how fit Andrews is as he seems to struggle to see a match out. Not surprised Moxey and Boden were subbed off. Chesterfield lose - so they are out of the title chase now.

Best bit apart from our result was Argyle losing 6-0 at home to Charlton. Even at my stage of life I am still looking for some kind of Karma for Boxing Day 1969! 😉⚽️

Absolutely about the result tonight, given the line up we can't complain. Hoping that the omissions of Wright and Cameron were more precautionary than anything. And yes, Wealdstone are fast becoming a joke, integrity of the league...pfft!

Mike Bickle, Milkman I guess we talking about Stefano. Great rivalry back then with Billy Bingham as manager at Argyle. I remember the result well as I was away in Kent with family over Xmas. So dejected after that result and not long after we were victorious on their own patch in a famous 2-1 victory at Home Park, my first ever away game as a 13 year old in 1968. Great memories.

Yes Mike Bickle the milkman Norman Piper got the other two. Yes the 2-1 at Home Park after Argyle had been relegated to join us was brilliant. I too was on the terraces and behind the goal at the Barne Park end in October 1968 when Alan Welsh was put through by Stubbsie to notch the winner. A particular memory for me is exactly a year later in October 1969 crossing the ball at Plainmoor for Alan Welsh to head home to secure our 2-0 win in a Western League game. All a bit surreal at the time. Yes Billy Bingham. He said after our 2-1 win that Torquay were a lucky side and that we would win the return game over his dead body. At Plainmoor our supporters did a lap of the pitch carrying a coffin (crowd 13000, but not all carried the coffin!). Turned out Billy was right mind! Argyle won 1-0! 😉

We traveled down from Newton Abbot on the football special train with a load of rowdy hooligans of the time. It was a cold dreary day if I remember and the open end was patrolled by a few police and can remember a bobby getting his helmet knocked off and getting soaked in tea in the celebration of Alan Welsh's winning goal that was at our away end. Remember the Billy Bingham Coffin event also - a bit over the top but it was a very different time growing up and attending football matches back then and the rivalry was very intense between us and Argyle. Ah Alan Welsh on of my all time favorite players. You must have been in the list of games played/scorer players in the program back then along with Russel Peterson, Fred Binney etc.....

Yes one of those childhood memories Pete f that will always remain. I was 16 at that time so 3 years ahead of you. I travelled by train from Newton Abbot. Jimmy Dunne headed us ahead from a Tony Scott free kick, Argyle equalised for 1-1 half time, then Alan Welsh notching our winner. I think the crowd was over 16000. Mind you I remember my first away game as a 12 year old Good Friday 1964 a crowd of 16000 at St James Park for a 0-0 draw with Exeter City, then the return at Plainmoor 13000 on Easter Monday a 1-1 draw. Exeter got promoted 3rd place we finished 6th. Certainly got a decent crowd in those days! Yes did manage a name in the programme but not as Stefano! Played with Fred Binney who you mentioned and a few others you would know including Tony Scott, John Benson, and Andy Donnelly
Just realised we have had an important win tonight and here we are filling the match day thread up with our child hood memories! 😂🍺

Great to hear your experiences Stefano. Did you ever play with Steve Feasby? He was an old work colleague of mine. Sadly passed away a few years ago from an industrial related illness but would have been in the Western league squad of the era. A really lovely guy. Also Russel Peterson someone I grew up with and knew in Ipplepen who was also at the club around that time.

Brilliant result - scoring early is such a great idea . . .
Late goals are better than none but it's all too easy for it to be at the wrong end.
Come on you Gulls !
