Sutton have lost at home to Chesterfield. We go five with a game in hand If things stay as they are.

Ten wins from twelve a record best start - this truly is a golden era we're all witnessing and long may it last.
Needed that second goal but if we hadn't got the three points it would have been a total injustice after totally dominating and peppering their goal. Only blot on the copybook was another headed corner conceded and it just put a bit of pressure on us though we handled it well in the dying minutes. CLE, (just how fit is this lad!) Asa Hall, Nemanee, Whitfield, Cameron, Randell - no weaknesses - and so many great performances out there once again tonight and to just add Kerr and Andrews have come in seamlessly.
Dean Moxey and Ben Wynter will have a job winning back their places when fit at this rate!

What happened to the old mantra of “never make a substitution when you are defending a corner”?
Thought Maidenhead worked had to contain us and gave it a go from 2-0 down.
We are looking good, aren’t we?

Great set of results with both Sutton and Notts County losing at home.

Stockport looking the biggest threat.
Their 3 games before Xmas are home to Sutton, away to Notts County and away to Hartlepool!

Another great team performance tonight where we thoroughly deserved the win and it would’ve been a travesty if we come out of that with anything less than three points! Maidenhead did give it a good go in the second half after going behind with their first half tactics of trying to catch us on the counter doing absolutely nothing for them in terms of meaningful chances and they were lucky to be only a goal down at the break. Asa came up with a nice little chip behind their defence for Whitfield to run onto when we finally did get the goal almost on the stroke of half-time and I thought their defence went to sleep just for a second as they possibly contemplated a 15 minute break and a pat on the back for keeping a clean sheet, We had quite a few half chances in the first half, Wright just failed to curl a shot into the far post, Whitfield unable to get enough power on a shot after a run similar to his goal on Saturday and a goal mouth scramble unable to be knocked in, not mentioning the disallowed goal that Asa headed in as he backed into their keeper. The chances kept coming in the second half, CLE made room for a shot destined for the bottom corner which their keeper was able to palm away and then save again as Wright shot in the rebound from a tight angle. Randell also just failed to curl a shot in reminiscent of Wright’s attempt in the first half and Andrew’s late free kick hit the bar. The second goal though was simplicity itself, Andrew’s received the ball with a bit of space just outside their area, Wright on the edge of the six yard box pointed to where he wanted it, it was duly delivered and directed straight into the bottom corner. Although Maidenhead generally defended very well, they could have done better for both goals I think. Johnson went mad at the goal we conceded which was almost an action replay of the Wrexham goal. You can see that the players are working really hard for each other and it is a real team effort out there. Kerr and Andrews have come in to help shore up the defence and agree it would be hard to drop them. Even Buse today for his short spell came on and gave his all to make the difference in yet another win - the table is starting to look pretty good 😍

Fantastic win and run of results. Only concern is two or three were playing after taking pain killers and were desperate to play. Ben Whitfield hobbled a bit going off and has an achilles problem I understand. Me thinks the treatment table will be busy this month.... Kings Lynne next up with a minus 13 goal difference and with such demanding schedule I wonder if GJ will be considering resting one or two?
Hopefully Moxey and Wynter etc will be returning soon which should offer the manager some more options.

We have only just come off a 10 day break a week ago which just shows how much toll 3 games in a week can take on a team so do not envy the likes of Stockport playing catch up. There is the opportunity to rest those carrying knocks for the trophy game on the 19th and with no fixture on the following Tuesday another 10 day break is possible. Important and winnable games against Kings Lynn and Dagenham first though......

Johnson post match thoughts - with more praise for crowd in the ground lifting the players at key times in the game. The crowd was a little low due to a combination of Covid, a cold December night with a live stream available for less money or in the case of season ticket holders for free. With no ancillary revenues at the ground, probably not making much or any difference to the club’s income at the moment. It does feel very safe in the ground in respect of COVID and my perception is a lot less risk than going to a supermarket.and hopefully that we be backed up by the data in the coming weeks.
