This is an important game for us if we are to maintain our momentum as it falls between two postponed fixtures and while quite a few games in the national league are off next Saturday due to FA Cup action, our nearest rivals Sutton, are playing ironically also against Halifax but at home.
It was our first draw of the campaign last Saturday and I think a lot of this was down to the difficult and windy weather conditions which impeded our style of play. However with Randall being sent off we are without his services and Johnson has a number of options with either Little (if fit) and Andrews able to come in or even play 4-4-2 although unlikely as I believe Halifax play with three central midfielders. Johnson has hinted that MacDonald may well retain his place after his good showing between the sticks.
Although Halifax are at the lower end of the table, they have played a lot of the better teams in the division and are actually a hard team to beat going down by one goal to Wealdstone when they had two sent off and 2-1 to Stockport with the winner by all accounts being a bit of a worldie! They did play on Tuesday which could favour us with our high intensity game. It was a decent 1-1 draw with Notts County with a late equaliser after conceding early on and by all accounts were the better side but had trouble finishing.
To this end they are looking to bring a new striker in possibly but not necessarily for this game. Like us they have a man suspended - Jeff King - wing back?? They have just signed 37 year old midfielder Neil Danns with plenty of league experience but did not make the squad on Tuesday as he is still recovering or regaining his fitness after catching COVID so doubtful if he will start.
Halifax stream - £9.99 to watch this game and should be a tough competitive match. COYY!
