A very solid cv, so a good signing on paper. Let’s hope he lives up to the cv, and that he gets match-fit quicker than Addai. Well it seems Alex Addai has left the building after failing to agree contract terms. Yes, just heard that in the gaffers press call….

Not great news about Addai..thought he looked useful.Could have been a factor at this level.

Not great news about Addai..thought he looked useful.Could have been a factor at this level. Well he was allowed to drive his car to an away game so that he could visit his mum for Sunday lunch, and then was ordered to drive back to Torquay straight after the game for training on Sunday morning. I think I would have buggered off as well! ⚽️

It didn't improve the next performance, and despite what he said, can only have been seen as a punishment as far as I'm concerned. Unlikely to have worked on a largely young and inexperienced squad that was low on confidence at that stage.

I'm struggling to understand why Armstrong was unavailable for today's game when he was not in the Irish squad of 23 against Portugal on Thursday.

I always say the key to a good 3-5-2 (other than against poor opposition) is proper wingbacks who can defend and attack. I still don't think we have that. Well maybe we have now! Sparkes would be ideal as a left-wing-back or could play wide left in a 4-4-2. Will be used to teaming up with Moxey either way. I see he has been out injured since August which explains this move. I hope he is actually fit enough to play - think he has played a few reserve games. A month of National League action to bridge the gap from that to League 2. Expect City will sell one or two in the transfer window so will want him 100% ready by then. Would not expect him to stay beyond the month with us, but you never know. Strangely, the better he plays for us the less likely he is to stay on. Not surprised to see Andrews move on. Has served us well, but will he ever be fit enough to play in a high tempo National League side? I still cannot help wondering how that match at Ashton Gate would have panned out if Jake had just left the pitch as quickly as possible. A shame that is what I will remember him for. With Sparkes in town, this squad ain’t big enough for the both of them.

As far as I can tell, Joe Felix was born on 29 Sept 1999, and Jack Sparkes was born on 29 Sept 2000.

I still cannot help wondering how that match at Ashton Gate would have panned out if Jake had just left the pitch as quickly as possible. A shame that is what I will remember him for. On re-reading, maybe I was a tad harsh on Jake. I think it is second nature for a competitive player to always want to stay on the pitch - without really considering what is best for his own long-term health and what is best for the team. That is why it has to be for the club physio to make the decision, not the player himself. The physio should have got him off the pitch as fast as possible without jeopardising his health and safety - regardless of how vehemently the player was arguing the toss. Jake joined a bottom-half National League South side and helped turn it into the second best side in the National League. Thanks Jake and all the best for the future.
