Yes, a different piece of the puzzle and not part of the NHS. The VMIC will be a collaborative effort with academia and small or medium enterprises so bringing together the relevant know how and skill sets in the country - link |

I've got to admit my confidence in the vaccine programme has been knocked. Now don't get me wrong, I am certainly not an anti-vaxxer and believe the pandemic is a real threat.
As someone who is classed as Clinically Extremely Vulnerable (due to cancer treatment) I placed a lot of hope in the vaccines as they were being developed but two things have knocked my confidence in them:
1) the Oxford vaccine only seems to be effective in 62% of cases.
2) the delaying of the second booster jab until after 3 months when their effectiveness was originally tested on the basis that the booster would be received after 3 weeks.
This leaves me feeling that the vaccination program may end up as one of those half arsed botched schemes that numerous governments of all colours participate in.

I wouldnt be surprised if that 12 weeks comes in abit as supplys come online in the later part of the summer. |

I wouldnt be surprised if that 12 weeks comes in abit as supplys come online in the later part of the summer. I would agree with that, not just as more supplies become available but also as those more vulnerable categories are ticked off then there isn’t such a rush to get that first jab in for lower risk groups. |

Hi, new here and reading with amusement the debate that is going on and pleased it is a debate. I have seen it mentiomed there is just rambling on the 'kids site' which have shift far to the right to the point that usernames are edited and posts in oppersition to what is there are removed. Its good to see debate can still be had on the internet Just had a look at the kiddies and Louis has taken down all the covid and conspiracy related threads, seems he didn't realise that most of the content was related to the bitchute platform which hosts extremist right wing material. |

Staffing shouldn't be a problem as these are industrial/scientific plants for manufacture, thus not requiring scarce resources of ICU specialists, Doctors and Nurses. The more likely restraint on production will be availability of raw materials but no doubt that is being tackled in advance. |

RJD / Jerry / Pete. In the Oxford/AZ trial, as RJD said, no one in the 38% that became infected required hospitalisation. So the vaccine was 100% effective in preventing hospitalisations - that's brilliant. When the second dose was put back to 3 months, the proposition was that the 62% had been measured in the first few weeks but had developed afterwards to 90%, not the 95% efficacy of two doses. The J & J vaccine would give the UK's efforts a nice boost! "The phase 1/2a interim analysis showed that the Company’s COVID-19 vaccine candidate induced an immune response and was generally well-tolerated across all study participants. Data demonstrated that, after a single vaccination, neutralising antibodies against COVID-19 were detected in over 90% of study participants at day 29 and 100% of participants aged 18-55 years at day 57.
