Both sides in poor form and having difficulty making the transition.
Difficult one to call. Hate it when teams have been on long run of defeats just as we succumbed to Chesterfield couldn't happen again surely.
Odds on a draw but hoping for more though defeats like on Tuesday are real confidence knockers so be interesting to see how we respond on GJ's birthday.
Fancy Duku to start his make or break "trial"...would be wise for both parties he cant go on warming the bench like he is while we struggle along with RK/JR as a proven failed partnership.

Other injuries might be preventing this eg: Opi Edwards, but Whitfield playing the number 10 role CLE had behind Reid is my preferred choice with the personnel we have. I would be a bit surprised if it’s not GJ’s - injuries other than CLE permitting - as we scored for fun when we played with that shape and GJ was quick to stress it was a role Whitfield plays. Completely understand why it was changed up against Dirty Woking, but would like to see us set up like that again. Horses for courses as Stockport’s strengths and weaknesses will factor, but it looks like our best shape and one which has played most to Reidy’s strengths on the goal tally front earlier in the season. At least with that, you have one extra player who is more strongly dedicated to an advanced role rather than pushing up the two wingers who have their defensive duties to also think about and may leave Reid isolated while they are attending to them. Be it the industrious Andrews and Whitfield or the mercurial Kalala. Bloody injuries. Edwards and CLE get into our best 11 every time, but it’s just not going to be happening. CLE got scythed by dirty Poku and is a long way from returning and Opi appears to be made of glass. Our poor run and flashes of brilliance certainly fuels debate. Some consider it our defence, others midfield and others our strike force that needs tinkering with. It’s likely all three, but when it comes to our midfield, it all comes back to that injury list. |

Given the line up announced, I may have got my wish. Kalala, Andrews and Whitfield all start. Or are we slotting Andrews in as an extra centre-mid.

Agreed Rob considering the players available I think its just about our strongest line up.
Pleased to see Kalala start, on his day can destroy teams though I think we all agree consistency is an issue and his defensive qualities are suspect.
Hope he turns up today!
