The games keep coming with our fourth match in 10 days on Tuesday against a Maidenhead side that have the same points tally as us having beaten Stockport away on the opening day of the season and then two home games which saw them draw against Chesterfield before losing to Hartlepool. They have only scored two goals so far but have conceded the same so I expect a tighter game and we need our defence to be on song.
Duku did not feature on Saturday but has a good chance of starting in a 4-4-2 formation as we did against Boreham although Connor has been supporting Reid ever since half time of that match and there is a tough selection choice to make there. On the wings Andrews and Kalala have started in two games so far and think they will keep their places. Edwards makes for a very good impact player.
The bid question in defence is whether Davis will be back? I suspect it may be Saturday but then Vincent will struggle to make it in the match day squad. A nice problem to have. Finally, I feel that MacDonald’s place is under pressure but why should he be different from anyone else in the team?
This game sandwiches 3 away games so it is quite important to get a win to keep us up there. COYY.

I doubt MacDonald will be dropped Rob hes been pretty consistent and just had a bit of an off day on Saturday. Covalan would be coming in cold and you don't knock a keepers confidence and belief by dropping him after a couple of dodgy moments where he may or may not have done better. Think Covalan will only play if MacDonald is injured or suspended or will maybe get cup games to see what he can do. Johnson, quite rightly has stuck with the much criticized Niate who by all accounts had a pretty good game yesterday. Young squad that need time to adjust - why knock their confidence so early unless they are consistently poor? GJ will inevitably find out soon who his best and most consistent staring eleven is. Duku hasn't really been effective so not surprised he was on the bench though he'll soon get his chance. He has the problem that hes constantly going to be compared with Saikou Janneh who had an instant understanding with JR.
No idea what happened to Touray - signed on then disappeared. Either injured or deemed not ready by the manager is my guess as he is another very young player and is reluctant to throw into the lions den!
I think with the improved performance its unlikely GJ will tinker too much and we can hopefully look forward to some good, free flowing attacking football.

Thought all our goals conceded at Bromley looked fairly calamitous, myself. Third one an absolute shocker. Remember Ryan Northmore conceding a similar one toward the end of a late season game one year. Maybe Halifax were opponents that day? Not as windy, though.
Clearly we’ve got goals in us, so not too concerned the 19 year old from Newport hasn’t yet got a look in up front. I think we’ll win. That’s my prediction.

York City - penultimate game of the Barnet season. Threw away what felt like a vital win - but win or draw left us needing a draw on the last day. Scorer was Potter - now manager at Brighton.

Let's hope Maidenhead make the same travel arrangements as two years ago.
They were so knackered that even Wor Quoidie scored.
Will be interesting to see if we go back to two out and out strikers - Duku or Touray or even Keating partnering Reidy.
If so how does Evans fit in? Maybe Andrews to make way?
I suspect too early for Davis - and Vincent to start at left back.

May be too early for Liam Davis or Ryan Dickson to start but wouldn't be surprised if they were on the bench and got some game time tonight. Can't see too much tinkering either after the improved performance on Saturday. My expectations are a little more realistic now I have had a chance to see how we have perform at this level. The level of entertainment is key for me these and we certainly had a high level last season so really looking forward to this one. Hopefully our passing flowing attacking game will return.

Can I just say I saw Shamir Goodwin (as he was) score his only goal for TUFC and that he also hit the post at 1-1 in the same match, which was eventually lost 3-1 against that season's champions, Chesterfield. It was a pretty decent performance except that one of Chesterfield's goals was a howler by the goalie (I've forgotten his name already) who kicked the ball into Brian Saah's back and by the time anyone knew what was going on Eoin Doyle was racing away to score, and that Joss Labadie ruled himself out for the vital run in by biting Chesterfield's Ollie Banks and earning himself a long suspension. Good to see the two clubs in the same division as each other again. COYY

Very disappointing to lose the match in a game that Torquay dominated and should have won comfortably. But I have seen it so many times at Plainmoor over the years when we fail to take chances and we are done by the sucker punch. That's football I'm afraid, you can play all the quality football and look far superior to the opposition but unless you can hit the back of the net it is all worthless. Maidenhead defended resolutely, took their few chances, ran down the clock as much as possible and took all 3 points. One perhaps explanation were the two different goalkeepers tonight. Maidenhead's keeper was on loan from Fulham and was commanding and brilliant. MacDonald in our goal parried Maidenhead's first shot on goal into the danger area for them to tap in the rebound. It was a well struck shot but MacDonald could have done better and is costing us this season. Crowd a healthy 2,946 with 53 from Maidenhead, sponsors MOTM deservedly going to Kalala for his skills and effort.
It was all one way traffic in the first half, Torquay were playing slick, fast football on the deck and Maidenhead looked second best. Several times Torquay looked certain to score but typically missed the target, their keeper saved or a defender cleared off the line. It was attractive football to watch but on a rare breakaway Maidenhead found space on our left due to makeshift left back Vincent being caught out of position. A shot was hit low and hard from just outside the box, MacDonald got down well to save it but the ball spilled out for Maidenhead to tap in. After the goal Torquay lost their early impetus and the game drifting to half-time at 0-1.
Torquay came out in the second half blazing and immediately Reid was put through. His shot was decent but their keeper outstretched arm saved it. But Torquay carried on pressing and probing and still looked likely to score. Johnson made a baffling decision by replacing midfielder Hall for striker Duku. I'm afraid Duku offered very little, he is no target man, looks unconvincing in the air and does not seem to get into goal scoring positions. I felt we were carrying him and missed Halls combative game and ability in the air. Torquay got more desperate as the game wore on, the ball was often in their penalty box but we could not find a way through. Torquay had a corner deepe into injury time, everyone went up, Maidenhead then broke away and scored again.
It was hard justice on Torquay to lose tonight and chances alone Torquay should have won comfortably. There were lots of effective running with the ball and team play putting Maidenhead on the back foot for most of the match. There is not much wrong with our game. We were punished for not taking our chances and our inexperience shows at times. Vincent is learning at left back and MacDonald's mistakes is proving to be costly like at Bromley. It was not a howler for Maidenhead's first goal but a top class keeper would not have parried it into the danger area. A real worry for me is who plays with Reid in attack. Duku looks pretty poor to me and is not the player to bring on when you are chasing a game. Personally I would have liked to have seen Keating go up front with Reid. Keating came on and went to left wing for Andrews. No need to panic yet there are areas we need to improve on.
