After just one season away we have bounced straight back into the national league with the team on a high, a top manager and gulls looking upwards as opposed to fearing another relegation battle. With 2000 fans coming to the Plymouth and Exeter PSFs the expectation is for well over 3000 home fans to see what is mainly our championship winning side but with additions although like most of last season, this won’t be supplemented by that many away fans.
I think the Exeter match will be a strong indicator of our line up come this Saturday and I have posted my thoughts on this elsewhere but at the end of the day Johnson will know the best team to put out to get the result we all want.
Boreham had a good season two years ago finishing fourth but had a poor 20th finish last year. Their top scorer last year was Justin Shaibu scoring 12 while on loan from Brentford and again is back on loan. He will be aided by familiar faces in Tyrone Marsh scoring 7 goals from 18 games for us 5 years ago and Kabongo Tshimanga scoring 24 from 42 games while at Oxford CIty including a good counterattacking goal at Plainmoor in their 7-2 mauling.
Other new arrivals for Boreham include midfielders Adam McDonnell from Aldershot and Piero Mingoia from Accrington Stanley and loanee Jordan Thompson, a 20 year old defender from Coventry City. David Gregory has also been brought in from Bromley to challenge or back up the goal keeping position. Very well rated right back Kane Smith is also back after a bad knee injury that kept him out for last season and will be one to watch.
Borehamwood’s final preseason game was against Billericay winning 2-1 with goals coming from a corner and a counter attack and with several other chances to boot,
The weather was is set fair but not hot this Saturday so it should be a great day out and here’s hoping for a great start to the season. COYY!

Would feel happier going into this game with a fully experienced bench (of players that is).

Why? You can only use three subs so it is unnecessary to have seven experienced players in the bench. We are not Manchester City and have to cut our cloth accordingly. I have no qualms, GJ has shown he can operate on a limited budget without sacrificing quality for want of quantity.

I'm saying that it would be nice to have five experienced subs, 'keeper, CB, Midfielder, Striker and A.N.Other, this would allow for tactical and injury substitutions. Strangely enough I'm aware that we don't have the wealth of Manchester City, but thanks for pointing this out to me.

No news on any more additions as yet but not overly concerned. Plenty of talent and ability in the squad now and all will be motivated and raring to go. Yes would be nice to have a little more experience but we do have fit, young and hungry players who want to get on in the game which is just as important. Boreham Wood will be no push over and have signed a player who scored plenty of goals last season and looked a handful when we played Oxford City last season but whatever the result we wont have a true picture until we are at least half a dozen games in. No idea what to expect to be honest other than Johnson will play his normal high tempo imposing style that reaped rewards last year. How effective that will be at the higher level is another matter with a tactic that can leave us vulnerable and exposed at times. For sure its going to be an entertaining season with more returning on the terraces.

As for new players, Jake Andrews has caused a bit of a stir on social media tonight. On instagram he has posted a picture of Lemonheigh-Evans visiting the Bay. On Twitter his comment replying to Janneh after his successful operation was” Get back soon Big Man! Get Plainmoor rocking again” Make of that what you will.

It will be very interesting to see the side that Johnson puts out tomorrow with all the options we now have available. Guaranteed starters are Vincent, Cameron, Wynter, Reid and Duku. Very likely, MacDonald and Little. The four “wingers” of Andrews, Keating, Kalala and Edwards may all get pitch time but who will start? Hall or CLE? Lewis or Niate? The competition is particularly intense in centre midfield where I think Johnson will rotate and substitute those in the engine room to keep them fresh. However, if CLE and Little are able to form an effective partnership together then It could be something to see. Cannot wait for tomorrow!

Match Day at last!
Cloudy start this morning but sunny this afternoon with a temperature of about 19 C forecast. I think there is a confidence we will get over 3000 at the game. Can we make it nearer to 4000?

Yesssss it's here...Saturday!
Cannot remember when we have been more organized for the start of the season.
Crowd should be nudging 3000, and hopefully in good voice...the song they sing has slipped my mind for the moment! I doubt it will be as noisy as it has been around here over the last few days though! They separate the Yows from the lambs and it's bloody bedlam for a day or two!
Don't tell the Vegans! 😁

Are we back on the BBC radio yet, or are they still being arseholes...then again, they've always been arseholes!

Are we back on the BBC radio yet, or are they still being arseholes...then again, they've always been arseholes! If I don't receive an answer to this question before 15:00 there's going to be trouble! I will send my God down there, and as you know my God is a jealous God, and he will smite you! And the skies will darken in Gomorrah (Torquay) and the land be blighted with Denizens of the deep and the rivers will turn to blood and it will look like Plymouth! 😠 I'm waiting...
