Need a big win to get back on track.

Tufc preview - it may be a small squad but it is a fit squad with no new injury worries from the Bath game.

Looking at the forecast tomorrow looks like it is going to be both wet and windy tomorrow. Whether Niate has got a shout with his physical presence to force his win into the starting XI is perhaps something to be looked for.

Now 4-0. Woking still trailing 0-2.

Happy days indeed, what was amazing could have scored quite a few more along the way. We have threatened to score a hatful this season previously so glad that we have finally delivered.

Oxford did not look good defensively from the off and struggled in the conditions more than us. Only downside was Kalala picking up an injury although Keating came on and provided an assist with his first touch and made a crucial goal line clearance a few minutes later from a rare Oxford attack.

Well after last weeks minor setback,what away to respond with giving Oxford a good hiding and with Woking losing defo happy days,easy to say now but sometimes getting beat gives the team a big kick up the booty lol massive well done to the gaffer and the players must have realised last week was a one off and for sure it wasn't going to happen again also sends a message out to rest of league we are a force Ok I realise this isn't a strong league but we haven't fell sorry for ourselves this season credit to everyone We will win this league with games to spare And I miss watching us on Gillette soccer special to 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

Considering the wet and windy conditions it was a cracking match yielding nine goals that really should’ve been well into double figures!. Perhaps the main consolation for the Oxford city supporters was that they saw seven goals scored right in front of them which is not something you see every game but to see five goals against your team before half-time must have been thoroughly depressing.

I thought that defensively Oxford showed quite a few frailties not helped by the conditions and of course in the first half we were playing with the advantage of the wind behind our backs shown by how the ball from their goal-kicks was held up. From some good counter-attacking play and with a slight defensive error, Davis had the first chance to score but shot just wide of the right-hand post when maybe he should’ve done better. However it wasn’t too long before our first goal came with the ball played into Reid and although his shot was saved, the ball just popped out for Janneh to comfortably slot home.

From the goal we continued to dominate the game and the next chance was when Reid got clear in the box with it taking two defenders to bring him down and Oxford were fortunate not to concede a penalty. Kalala was then injured in a challenge and after prolonged treatment with the match continuing during this, he was unable to run off this injury and had to be substituted for Keating. He had an immediate impact being able to head the ball at the far post back into the 6 Yard box for Jannah to get his second with the defender on the line just unable to keep the ball out. The third followed very shortly after with Lemonheigh-Evans putting Reid through to slot the ball past their keeper. Game over and we were only halfway through the first half!

Although Oxford briefly threatened for a period with Keating heading the ball clear off his line, we were now in control and it was only a matter of time before we scored again. The fourth goal came courtesy of an Andrews corner which was struck to the back post area and this time the wind provided the assist with the keeper helpless as the ball sailed into the top corner. We almost scored immediately after with a well worked free kick eventually coming through to Keating at the far post scoring from a very tight angle but it was then quite disappointing to see this effort flagged for offside. However, this disappointment was only brief as Reid this time turned provider crossing to Andrews on the left hand side who volleyed the ball in off the post for a five star first half performance.

I thought our intensity in the second-half went down just a notch but to be honest the opportunities were still there and we could’ve easily scored another five! The first goal scored in this half was from a lovely side footed deflection by Andrews after some good work and a cross from Lemonheigh- Evans from the left hand side and this hat-trick, TUFC’s third of the season completed Andrews redemption from his penalty miss last week.

At six nil up Johnson then had the luxury of substituting Hall, bringing on Dickson in his place but it was perhaps no coincidence that Oxford were able to briefly rally and score a couple of goals in quick succession. The first came from their attack where I thought our defence could have done better but MacDonald had no chance when the shot was fired home. Their second goal came from a counter-attack which again was well taken giving their small away following, something to cheer about.

With the chances we were regularly creating, we were always looking likely to score again and wrapped it up from a move which started just outside our penalty area with Davis fouled but play for once continued on and the ball eventually came to Reid in the penalty area from where he was able to slot home.

Both Janneh and Reid had chances to join Andrews as hat trick heros but it was perhaps fitting that after a bad day at the office last week, Andrews was left unopposed to take the MOTM award.

The win was further enhanced with confirmation that Woking had suffered a two nil loss at home and Bath after their heroics of last week were only able to draw against Gloucester. A week is a long time in politics and it looks like in football too.
